I'm just curious. There are several questions about what to get our mom or our MIL for Mother's Day. But what about you? What would YOU absolutely love to receive? It's a given, we would all love to have the arms of our little ones around our necks giving us sweet kisses so I'm not referring to them. Although it's hard to think of something to top that. Not hard, impossible. But lets focus on you. What would love to have just for yourself?
I've been thinking of this quite a bit lately. I have thought of all kinds of things but I keep coming back to something so simple but it sounds so appealing to me. A day of quiet of just me and my book. I would love to be able to relax, not have a care or a thing to do. Have it absolutely quiet. Read my book and if I wanted to take a nap. Sounds boring, I know but that's what I would love to have. If your house is like mine, you would understand why I would love to have this day.
Husband to wake up and realize he forgot to get me a gift, so he takes the kids out looking for something. And they can't find anything, so they keep looking. And looking. And looking. And they finally find something and come home just in time for bedtime! :) SILENCE!

When I was young, my mom would always answer this question, "Peace and quiet." Now I know exactly what she meant! That's what I want too!
... and flowers!

For my husband to spend the day with me and the kids with NO cell phone. I am tired of only getting 2 days (if we are lucky) with him and his stinking work phone ALWAYS ringing for one thing or another.

Ah, yes, a day by myself would be lovely. If that couldn't happen:
Breakfast and tea with no one asking me for anything while I'm eating.
Long hot shower with no knocks on the door because "Mama, I hafta pooooop!"
A nice walk through the neighborhood, gardening time.
Sushi lunch. Yum!
Head out to a bigger park in the toolies, where there's some nature, trees and lovely non-city things to look at.
Dinner out at my favorite veg restaurant.
Hubby puts Kiddo to bed, without me at all.
Watch a silly something and have a nice something to drink. (Actually, the whole day with my family and I might want a nice something to drink a bit earlier, hee hee!)
Okay, that was nice fantasy. Back to doing laundry and dishes...

Normally, I would be right there with you - a nap and a day of relaxing quiet. But this year, I am itching to get away with my family and take a little mini vacation. So, my ideal gift would be a trip to a cabin, fishing, some R and R with my family, away from all cell phones, computers and OBAMA TALK!!
=)

I would love a Mothers ring or pendant with all the kids birthstones and a nice engraving.
I would like someone to put $50 in my hand and take the kids on a Saturday morning so I could go garage sale-ing.
I would like a nice big family bible. The kind you write the family tree in and hand down generation to generation.
If any of you know my family, please be sure they are aware of these desires!! :)

A day of rest.
Or better than that 24 hours for me to use as I wish - just hand them in like gift cards where the hubby has to take the kids to the park, or outside, somewhere not in the house, so i can get 24 separate hours of peace and quiet. :)

For my dd and dh to take my favorite piece of daughters art work, have it made into a large print, matted and framed for my wall. My walls have never had anything on them and we just finished painting them about a month or so ago..so now I need HER artwork to finish things off so I look like I have a "real" house (after 17 years here). My basement area is for my daycare..but my upstairs is for us (I use many areas for daycare too like kitchen, dining room, entry and one of the 2 bedrooms..but it still looks mostly like a real home up there, compared to down here!)
Happy Mothers day, gals!

A full spa day, massage, facial and mani/pedi, with time in between treatments to nap, read and sip champagne and savor fine chocolates..
Then home to a clean and quiet house, hubby and kids sleeping over at the in laws.

I would love one of those nice photo books from shutterfly. I have made them for the other people in my life, but I don't have one made for me by someone who loves me. My hubby isn't good at that stuff and its just not the same if you make it yourself.
My mom loves anything homemade with love, even if its just cookies.

Sleeping in that day and something going on that I don't have to plan for once -- like a brunch or a great breakfast. I'd love a keepsake/momento that my husband helped my daughter make. I'm pretty easy, I just want to feel like someone cares and has made the effort.

I told my husband I want "nothing" for Mother's Day. I want to have to do nothing all day long.
I do not want to have to feed, water, clothe, bathe, wipe anyone's butt, or anything for anyone other than myself all day.
If money were no option I would check into a local spa attached to this five star hotel...they have a seven hour full service treatment. Then I would go to my room and order a ridiculous amount of room service. I would watch whatever I wanted on tv and sleep in the next day until whenever I woke up. So it would have to be a Saturday and Sunday Mother's Day to me. Oh I would also take a book to read for fun...not one on childcare or child development or children's educations.
I would come home to a clean spotless house and clean, well fed and happy children. Ah, dreams!!

peace and quiet.
With no grumbling about it by others, that I want that.
And not having to cook and clean.
To know... that my being a Mom is appreciated and not taken for granted.
But that is all the other days of the year, too.
Which is impossible to ask for huh?

My laptop is old, screwy, and has a broken charger.
I lost the charger for my digital camera.
So one of two, or both would do, followed by a dinner with kids, me, and hubs at a japanese restaurant.

i would LOVE an entire day to curl up in a blanket and read!
more practically (although just as unlikely) i would like some flowers (not roses, spring flowers, lillies, tulips, those kinds) and a trip to the zoo with my husband and son. our zoo does free moms on mothers day :) but it will be super crowded and all those people don't thrill me and i am not even sure i want to now.
all i plan to ask is for certain plans for a certain vacation our family has coming up to be settled and no arguing. i am sooooo sick of "planning", and trying to please everyone and everyone's budgets. i just want to know i am going to get a vacation at all, at this point. wish me luck!

I want to spend the day doing what I do everyday. I think moms day is a great day to celebrate being a mom. I cant do that without my boys. they make it possible for the day to have more meaning then telling my own mama i love her! they make me mom. If i spent the day alone i think I would go nuts. I like the chaos my boys bring. I enjoy it when I have a day to celebrate the chaos!!!!!!!
This year I think the day will in-tale something about color! Hair dye comes to mind. Other then that I have no plans on my plate!

If money was no object, a digital SLR camera; I have wanted one for so long!
It would also be great if I woke up only to be sent on my merry way to a hotel all by myself for at least 2 full days. Ah, peace and quiet sounds so wonderful!
**I fully realize I would end up missing my family like crazy if I were to go away. Still, absence makes the heart grow fonder... Oh, and I would definitely, in my fantasy land, want to return to a perfectly spotless house!

I am SO THERE with you. All I want is a clean house and a day by myself to do nothing. And I mean nothing. I don't want to figure out what we're eating for every meal and snack, to help my husband find anything in the house, or to make any decision about what we need to do.
My husband is really good at getting our son out of the house for at least an hour or two each weekend (often more), but I always feel like that's my opportunity to vacuum or clean the bathroom, or do some other household chore without interruption. Even when I go out shopping on my own, it's usually to buy my son new clothes or to go grocery shopping. I know it sounds lame but seriously, all I want it some time by myself without feeling like I have chores to do.

I really want to go camping! Growing up, we'd have our annual Mother's Day camping trip where we (kids & dad) would do all the planning, packing, and preparing--all mom had to do was get in the car! Hubby and I did that for the past 2 years (first when my girl was only 5 months old), but not this year... I have to work...
Besides that, I would love to spend a day out somewhere, maybe the zoo, where I can just walk at my own pace and have hubby tend to everything (keeping up with the girl, fixing lunch, etc) so I could just relax and enjoy the day! :)

Your answer was totally my answer and I got it for my first mother's day! lol My boyfriend had no clue what to do for me, my baby is only three months so he's slightly useless in that department, and we really don't have that much money to be spending on gifts and stuff. So on mother's day, the baby woke up, my boyfriend got up and told me to keep sleeping and resting. He took care of him for most of the morning until the afternoon, which was all after I slept in, took a bath, relaxed, etc. We did go to dinner as a family, but that morning relaxing was priceless! Best gift ever!
