J.K.
I'm pale as a ghost. I use Walgreens SPF 90 lotion. It is great. I spent a day at a waterpark on a day withhigh UV and heat warnings and didn't even get pink.
Hawaiian Tropic SPF4
Bare Minerals Foundation (for my face) SPF15
I have SUPER melanin. In just 2 days of sun in Seattle I'm about 5 shades darker than i was (not saying much in the land of no sun). In deserts, I go Latin American /Middle Eastern/Islander dark in about 10 days. Burn on day 1, SPF30 for 2 days, and then back to SPF4 (or nothing) and I don't burn again, just get darker until I reach my 'cap' about a week later. I can stay that dark for years when I'm in the sun, or just a few months go back to "My eyes! I'm blinded by the light" pasty pale white. (my sisters all have porcelain skin that looks GOOD white (ethereal, glowing, tinged with rose blush GOOD). Mine looks sickly greenish like I've got some sort of malady. Out of all of us only my youngest brother, my son, and myself go dark. I go red brown, personally... While my brother and my son go golden toned brown.

SPF 30. I'm of Irish and Scottish descent. I CAN get some color....but it's usually freckled. So I don't bother.
I tend to stay out of the sun.
We use Sunshade SPF 30 lotion and sometimes SPF 45 spray on.
You may get dark using your SPF 4 with your complexion and not burning but you still getting sun damage.
I would suggest checking out the cosmetic database at http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/browse/sunscreen:+SPF+15-30/
most sunscreens contain toxic chemicals that can cause cancer etc. This website also has listings for shampoos, lotions, cosmetics etc. Know what you're putting on your skin that is being absorbed into your body.....
I like to use arbonne Spf 30 but since I have been waiting for it to come in I have been using an spf 100. I burn easy and the cheap ones usually don't help unless they are high ones. I don't tan well.
SPF 50. When they have a general use sun screen with a higher SPF number I'll use that.
I never tan. I burn and peel.
Good luck to you and yours.
SPF 50, 70 or 100 on my husband. Otherwise, he looks like a day laborer (no offense) within 2 seconds. Even with that applied he gets crazy dark. For our toddler son I use baby SPF 50 and then he proceeds to tan in spite of my best efforts. For myself I use a daily SPF 15 facial moisturizer and then SPF 30 sunscreen elsewhere. Anything higher and my skin burns from the sunscreen (it doesn't stop until I wash it off). I too tan in spite of the sunscreen. I figure something applied is better than nothing at all. I have no desire to look like a used leather suitcase in my old age if I can help it. I haven't found a difference among brands. For the facial moisturizer I use Eucerin I think. Nothing fancy. Just drug store stuff.
You must be just as happy as I am about this week and next that says we are in the 80's!! Woot woot.
I am sporting a good tan now, and it's not because I am not wearing sunscreen...I am. But my grandmother is 100% Native American and this blue eyed mama tans a red brown as well.
I wear the kids sunscreen....Banana Boat Spf 55.
My children, who are Mexican (my husband) are various shades of brown. My eldest is the darkest. I almost never put sunscreen on him. My baby is pretty white so I am always lathering her up.

SPF 70+ for my family. We have pretty fair skin and burn quickly. My husband jokes that when the sun hits his skin, he sees it sizzle.
I wear SPF 30 on my face in the winter. I'm very fair skinned, so I have to wear SPF 50+ for short spurts in the sun. Anything over an hour, it needs to be at least SPF 70. They may say that doesn't make a huge difference, but for me, it does. In Hawaii, I learned the hard way I need to go closer to SPF 100. I burned through SPF 70 in just an hour and a bad burn at that.
I take skin cancer extremely seriously. I have two relatives dealing with bad/life-threatening recurrences of it now.
When I start working outside in the spring, I start with SPF30 for the first few days. If I can avoid that initial burn, I feel like I've done myself some good. :) After that, my tan is well underway and I more often than not forget to put any on at all, except for the SPF15 I use on my face. I get dark golden brown and, though I can see the effects of too many years working in the sun, I still feel and look better with a tan.
Coppertone sport spf 50. I start by applying the lotion version before leaving home then use the spray can to apply additional layers while I'm out.
Neutrogena Dry Block 70. I have researched and a lot of experts like this the best.
For my face I start with a layer of vit c+e ferulic to add an antioxidant base and then use Neutrogena Anti Acne SPF 50 or a NARS tinted moisturizer 30+ if I am not going to be outside.
I am super diligent about the sun both for cosmetic and health reasons. My melatonin is horrible-only ever burn so its not even worth it to try.
I horde sunscreen, I have around six different kinds around all the time. At the moment I use Skinceuticals Physical Fusion UV Defense SPF 50 on my face. I use their Sheer Physical SPF 50 on my kids faces and Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Body Mist everywhere else. I also really like Jane Iredale Powder-Me dry suncreen for the kids and myself. I work in a Medical Spa, so I get lots of great sun protection products for free :-).
SPF 50
Sports type.
The whole family uses it. On face and body.
I buy what is on sale, try to read labels etc. But well, I buy what is on sale.
I tan easily, just 10 minutes in the sun and I tan and get tan lines on my feet from my flip-flops. So does my husband and my son. My daughter though, has nice ivory skin and burns easy.
My friend, saw a photo of a guy, who is a truck driver... so on his left side (arm and face), he was all tan and had awful skin. Just from driving in his truck all day. The sun "damage" so apparent. On his left side.
I tan very easily as well, although maybe not quite as good as you, Girl! ;) I'm Greek so that mediterranean blood kicks in when the sun in shining! I love it! I love the sun! Up until the last year or so I only used SPF 15 or less but now I kinda feel like I need to up it a bit. I usually use 30 on my face and chest and the other stuff on arms, legs, etc.
Thankfully my kids got the tan gene too although I do usually use 30-50 on them. My daughter is very picky about her sunscreen and only likes the smell of the Coppertone Baby stuff so I usually just use that on both of them. My husband doesn't tan, he burns, so he usually uses the same stuff! :)
i use hawaiin tropic dark tanning oil spray spf 15 n so does my mom ..during the winter i look pretty damn pale but i tan very easily..usually the first time i lay out i burn a little but after that i just get darker and darker brown.. my dad uses straight dark ttanning oil no spf hes pretty tan all year round hes lucky, my poor fiance is pale.. if u saw us in the winter though he isnt really that much paler than i am .. in 4 years of dating iv never seen him on the beach without a shirt or in the pool without tons of sunscreen on.. well as i said none of us really use actual sunscreen because we all tan so if theres anything like that in the house is because my fiance bought it for himself to use.. well the other weekend when it was 90+ he actually went in the pool without a shirt on and stayed in the pool for a couple hours, usually hes in and out.. well we had nothing for him to use except my spf 15 tanning oil -he figured some spf was better than none.. well the next morning he woke up n could barely move he was so0o red and his entire back n shoulders peeled for days.. his whole family pretty much avoids the sun so i dont think hes ever been burned like that in his entire life i felt so bad i went out n bought him a giant bottle of spf 45 sunscreen
SPF 25 in my facial moisturizer... the rest of me not so much... I try not to be in the sun for long periods, so no need for it most of the time.
I burn then fade to light color, and the cycle repeats... I never get a dark tan. So if I am out I use at least an SPF 15 so I do not burn. If I know I will be out for a LONG time I use my daughters SPF 50.
I put SPF 45 on all the time. (Actually, not all the time. If I'm outside for less then 20 minutes, I don't bother. I still need vitamin D!) I use Alba organics SPF 45 on all of us. I prefer not to get any color, since a tan is simply sun damage. Skin cancer is strong in my family and I'd rather not have any sun damage, if I can help it!! It's one of my biggest fears, so I'm probably annoyingly diligent.
