Ok, here is a random question for you all. Does anyone else get meat headaches? What I mean by that is, do you get a headache from the smell of cooked meat? I was telling my husband that I slept poorly last night because I had cooked meatloaf and the house smelled like it. I always get insomnia and headaches when we have made tacos, or a roast, or if a crockpot is cooking meat. I love eating meat, though. My dad once said he has the same thing. Are we the only 2 weirdos that have this? My hubby laughed so hard he cried when I told him this. He thinks I can't be serious.

No--but if I try to cook meat overnight in the crock pot--surefire recipe for nausea. It's like the brain can't process that smell in the middle of the night or something?
I had to laugh at your question, not because of your situation, but because I was just opening the windows in my kitchen because of my roast cooking! Lots of "smells" bother me. I can't wear perfume anymore, I have to use non-scented hairspray, deod, etc., and smoke of any kind really bothers me and gives me headaches. I do know that cured meat has nitrates in it and is known to cause headaches.
Dawn - loved your story!
Not specifically meat, but I usually have a pretty awful night's sleep when there's smells around, whether it's meat, cooked eggs, or a skunk I can smell out the window. Or the diaper pail, lol. I remember reading once that it's common to have your sleep disturbed or have crazy dreams when there are smells while you are sleeping.
Well when I was a kid... that would happen too or if I ate certain meats. Mostly cured meats or hams etc.
Doesn't happen to me anymore.
I eat meat.
And when pregnant, well meat really has a bad odor when cooking.
