And if you have to, for some reason or another, sleep on the "other" side - Can you Sleep??
I sleep on the Right side, standing at the foot of the bed looking at the bed, the right side has Always been mine ! even before hubs was in the picture ;-)

He was at the FD last night and little boy and I slept in my room, because we haven't put the AC in his room yet. I was on the very edge of my side but woke for a trip to the bathroom LOL I get back and he's completely taken over that little space I was in :-(
So i go the the left side and NOW I can Not sleep, Can Not get comfortable....... laying there miserable! WHY didn't I just move him you ask ~ He just looked so sweet and comfortable I didn't want to interrupt his sleep ! haha He's not a great sleeper !!!
SO do you have a 'side' :-)

What can I do next?

Before kids I slept on the side farthest from the door so if an intruder came in, he'd have to go through my husband first (HIS reasoning, not mine!)

Now, after kids, I sleep closest to the door so the kids reach me before my husband (MY reasoning).

As for not being able to sleep unless I'm on "my" side, after dealing with 3 kids under 5 all day I could probably sleep in the tub if I had to!

My husband has a shoulder that bothers him a bit, and we found that if he lays on his back and I rest my head on his chest/shoulder, it was more comfortable if I was on his left side, which puts me on the right side of the bed, looking from the foot. I could probably sleep on the other side, but it would feel weird. If he's out of town, I tend to sleep more in the middle or a little on his side and I hug his pillow!

I don't care. At home, I sleep on the right side and my wife takes what's left, including the middle.

I find I start facing my wife with my hand on her side or hip. We have a queen size bed. If we stay in a motel and have a king, and I can't touch her when I start to sleep, I have a hard time sleeping.

Good luck to you and yours.

I sleep on any side I want. It changes depending on what house, or how we arrange the room. I used to take the side closest to the door so when the kids came in I was the one who got up with them. They grew up, we changed things around and now Im on the right, because its closest to the bathroom. Now and then for whatever reason, I might be on the left side when he comes to bed and he just gets in wherever. Usually he is in bed first and watching tv which is on the left side and I get in on the right. I had surgery on my left foot so I stayed on the right side so he wouldnt bump it in the night. And years later I had surgery on my right knee and slept on the left side for the same reason. If we stay in a hotel, we just pick a side. makes no difference. I can sleep standng up on a fence post. Funny for someone who has lived with insomnia since I was 4 or 5.

I sleep on whatever side of the bed the alarm clock is on. Years ago my husband was disallowed to sleep next to the alarm clock because he will turn it off in his sleep and then we won't wake up on time. Also, I wear glasses and am pretty blind without them, so I need to have a place to set them that is nearby to me in case I get up in the middle of the night. (We only have room for one nightstand) So, I sleep on that side. It changes depending on where we are sleeping, so in a hotel or at my mom's might be different than at home. It never bothers me or prevents me from sleeping if I'm on a different side, as long as it's next to the clock.

I sleep on the right side, like you. I always had slept on the left side until i was 8 months pregnant with my first and I ended up switching side with my husband becasue I couldn't fit between the bed and the wall to enter/exit bed anymore. (our house at the time was much smaller). We have since moved, but I have kept the right side, even changing the bed around the room. Fun question!

i dont care which side, as long as it is the side closer to the door. I feel claustrophobic on the side closest to the wall. Wierd, right? I think this started when I had kids. I needed to be up and out the door quick to get to my babies.

I am a right sider. I sometimes will roll into the middle and once my hubby lives for work I take up the whole darn thing...A king size bed is the best thing ever!!Especially when there can be anywhere from one to five occupying it:)

I currently sleep on the left, that has been my side for quite awhile (has worked out that way through three moves). It is the side closest to the door which is nice since I get up a lot at night with the baby (and sometimes the older kids too!). It is also closer to the bathroom which was nice when I was pregnant. If we ever stay somewhere where the bed is turned the other way I still prefer to be closest to the door, even if that means sleeping on the right. But, I am usually so tired when I go to bed I could fall asleep ANYWHERE!

My husband sleeps on whatever side of the bed is nearest the door. So depending on where the bed is at in correlation to the door, that is where I sleep.....LOL ~ I have gotten used to sleeping on either side of the bed.

P.S. ~ whats the FD?

I DO have a side!! It used to be whichever side was closest to the door (we've moved quite a few times) but after 3 years of the side closest to the door being the left side of the bed (standing at the foot looking at the bed), now it's just the left side is mine. I don't know if I would be able to sleep on the other side or not. There hasn't been a need for me to find out yet!

I sleep on the left side when you're looking at the bed. I do not have trouble if I sleep on the other side, but what I have found is that my bed has always laid East/West. When I moved into an apartment after moving out of my parent's I was having trouble sleeping. I talked to a girl at school and she asked about which direction my bed was laying and how it was at my parent's. In my apartment it was North/South. I moved my bed and never had another problem! Weird!

hubby is right handed and so am i so we spoon facing the right side of the bed if you are standing at the foot board looking at the headboard.

that happens to put me closest to the bathroom and the children who tiptoe into our room in the middle of the night and whisper, MOM!! in the loudest decibel ever.

i have the same side as you. Started that that was closest to the bathroom when my first hubby and I got married and its always been "my" side. If we stay at any other place I can't sleep on any other side now!

Right side sleeper here...I sleep on the right side b/c I am a left side sleeper and I like to have my foot out of the covers, hanging off the bed, just a lil' :)

~I recently broke my left elbow and had to switch to sleeping on the left side of the bed so that I could have my arm propped up on pillows, the fact that I couldn't sleep on my side was TERRIBLE, I had a horrible 2 months trying to sleep! Sucked so bad...but am happy to report that I am back on my side again...Yay!

too funny ~ I have had that exact scenario happen when my hubby works graveyard. I too sleep on the right side of the bed and have a difficult time being comfy and sleeping if I am forced to the left side.

I sleep on the left side (looking from the foot), and my hubby sleeps on the right. We almost always spoon or cuddle when we sleep though, so most of the time we're mushed into the middle of the bed.

When we stay somewhere other than home, though, we can both take either side and it doesn't effect our sleep.

Ha, I am single, so I get to sleep in the middle of the bed...but I prefer the left side (looking from the foot) if I have to share. My son used to always come into my bed at night - he would then sleep arms and legs akimbo and take up the entire bed. It's genetic - his father sleeps the same way.

He came in my room the other night before I went to sleep just to visit (he's 15, doesn't happen often anymore) and decided to watch TV with me. Even awake he takes up more than half the bed.

I also am weird about where in the room the bed is placed. My feet have to be towards the door and I have to sleep with the bathroom door closed.
I moved my bed once, and couldn't sleep - took me months to figure out why. When I moved it back I slept fine.

Sweet Dreams
God Bless

The 'better' side... :P lol
Usually, same as you - on the right. For a weird reason...
DH begins to snores loudly after a while when he falls asleep, and I like sleeping on my side (left). So, right side of the bed to keep me away from the snores.. :) When I feel like sleeping on my right side, I make him switch! LOL
