JFF: What Did You Learn Today?

It is my great great aunt's 100th birthday party tomorrow. Today I learned that my local stores do NOT sell cards for turning 100.

On a related note, a couple of years ago I learned that my local stores also do NOT sell anniversary cards for the 60 year mark. They stop after 50, and my grandparents celebrated their 62 anniversary last week.

I also learned, or was reminded, that procrastination is BAD (I know, who woulda thunk? And yes, I am procrastinating more by making this post...)

So what did you learn today?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Wild Woman - I live in a fairly small town, with fairly small surrounding towns, so that might explain why my LOCAL stores don't have the cards that I'm looking for. Unfortunately for my great great aunt and my grandparents, I am not driving all around the state of MN to find their cards. Lol

I learned late last night, so close to today - that you since you can't reason with crazy, in some cases it is best to ignore it and hope they just go away.

How to download Google Chrome. Or is it upload? (I don't know why I bother to try to learn this stuff - I don't know up from down!)

So did I learn it or not? Good question!

Love this post!!!

Today I learned that no matter how long you've lived somewhere, you can still miss your exit! I took the kids to school and had to drive an extra 12 miles because I wasn't paying attention and drove right by my exit. Felt like a complete idiot, but I decided this was a little extra quiet time in the car, which I enjoyed.

Now, back to cleaning the house. Fun!

Oh, Janette, I hope you check this post again, because I'm dying to know what Austrian subtraction is!

I learned in the 12 step traditions.. that survival is not the same as recovery.. Quite honestly, I guess I always thought if you survived some traumatic event that in some way it equaled recovery (e.g. alcoholism in a family) ... Sounds like DUH.... but it was an AHA moment for me because when you know the difference between the two... you can begin to approach the matter differently and with a new perspective..

My husbands grandmother turns 100 tomorrow too😊 I just got her a "happy birthday" card. My grandmother who was very easy going did not like all the Happy 90th birthday cards she received.. I would think you may not want to be reminded of your age at 100.

I learned that my daughter can get up 40 minutes early, get ready and eat breakfast with no problem (early even) and STILL almost miss the bus. Gotta love Dad being home and allowing tv on in the am (and ignoring the clock once there is just 5 minutes before bus arrives)!

That 4 hours sleep, getting up and getting the kids off to school, followed by 2 hours of interrupted sleep (barking dog and chirping frog outside the window) is not enough.

Edited:
We really were mislead for political reasons. AND the IRS is controlled by political hacks targeting certain groups. Sorry, not fun but I am really ticked right now.
Sorry if some have no clue what I am referring to.

Hmm I learned that caffeine may be making me more on edge...that I really should think about cutting it out!

I also learned that starfall.com has a 1st grade curriculum up that my daughter finds interesting. I'm also amazed by how well she is telling the time.

hhhmmmm...good question...haven't been awake long enough today to learn something new...but I'm sure I will...

Sorry to disagree - our Hallmark store and our Target have anniversary cards for 60th...and we have birthday cards for 100 - now, granted, there are maybe 2 or 3 to choose from - but we have them.

So I would have to go back to yesterday....I learned that engineered hardwoods still need to be dropped off prior to installation to "acclimate" to the home.

Aw, happy birthday to your great aunt & happy anniversary to your grand-
parents.

How about making your own cards?

You might be able to pick up a pack of blank cards in your area then
write your own sentiment.

What did I learn? That kindness is actually appreciated! Makes me smile
and warms my heart.

Congrats to your g-g aunt! Wow.

That the restaurant we've been dying to try has the worst "homestyle" chocolate shakes ever. Yuck.

That regardless of how adorable a three year old is when she is refusing to nap, I am still unable to smile because of how frustrated I am at the wasted hour and a half we could have been doing something fun, had I known.

Happy Mother's Day weekend to all you moms (and yours) out there! :)

I learned that staying home while your floors are being done with tile can be boring... I ran out of projects and ran out of rooms to organize and clean, so now I am reading posts on mamapedia. I miss my outings and lunch with friends. LOL

if you have a Cracker Barrel ... they have cards with the years on it.
