JFF- What Age Was Your Child (Children) Able to Climb Out of the Crib?

Just curious: What age did your child decide to venture outside his crib? My first was 9 months! He could barely crawl but that kid could climb. My second, thankfully, stayed put until 1.5 years. I know my first was way young...but I'm thinking my second one was kind of right in the middle.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

8 months? Wow! And then some kids didn't climb out ever? Then there are all those somewhere in the middle! Cool.

Crazy as it sounds, none of my kids ever climbed out of the bed.

5 of them and not one climbed out.

Lucky me!

One did at 8 months and I had to put the crib away and just put the mattress on the floor. The other never tried to get out, though she was a very good climber on other things.

My first never even attempted until he was nearly 3!

My 2nd--about 18 mos when he first did it. He didn't try again for about 6 mos, and it became a big problem, but then I put a crib tent on and he's been secure for the past 6 mos. The zipper on the crib tent is now broken and I don't zip it, but he doesn't climb out.

My 3rd - he's 6 mos right now and not even sitting up yet. So, I really don't think he'll be chasing your son's 9 month record :) WHEW!!

My son waited until he was about 2.5. He only does this when he is ready to get up and has been crying for a bit. Or sometimes he crawls into his sister’s crib in the morning on the weekend. He is big and does it very gracefully so I am not worried he is going to get hurt. I will most likely move him in the next few months.

My oldest never even attempted to climb out. I moved her to a twin at 2.5yo because we moved and I was pregnant with #2 and I found it a great time to move her out. She still won't even climb out of the twin unless someone helps her. If I wasn't pregnant then I probably would have left her in it for as long as possible. My second is only a few weeks old and not in the crib yet.

My oldest was 3 yrs old, and my 2nd, at 2 yrs, is still in a crib and hasn't attempted yet. Although at 30lbs he's getting a little heavy to pull out and put in so I'm thinking we'll be making the transition sooner than his older bro!

I very rarely leave/left my two in the crib long enough to want to try to climb out. when they yell for me or cry I'm there and get them out, I think that's probably why they really never attempt to get out, no real reason too at this point....

Believe it or not, out of all 3 of my kids, none of them were climbers, all have stayed put until we moved them into their own "big kid" bed. But, I grew up with two twin younger brothers that were both huge climbers before the age of 1. My mom freaked out the first few times she'd go in their room because she put them in their own seperate cribs but came back to find them in the same crib!! She thought someone was playing a trick on her until she caught on:)

My oldest started this awhile back...at about 19 months. I tried the toddler bed for a night (we have a lifetime crib) and she would crawl right out and stand at her door screaming! So we put her back in the crib and I sat in her room by the door, not look at or talking to her, until she fell asleep. She hasn't tried to climb out since. Don't really know why that made her stop but it did lol!

My son never climbed out of his crib. He was probably 3 when we moved him to a toddler bed.

My oldest was 18 months. We got a crib tent to keep her in it until she was 2.5

My middle child never tried to climb out and was in it until 2.5

My youngest just turned 2 and he tried to climb out last weekend. I don't want to deal with getting another tent, so we may move him to a toddler bed soon. Ugghhh!

10 months.. By 12 months, she could get over the rail with no problem and the crib tent was a joke.

We moved my daughter to a toddler bad at 15 months because she was getting too close for comfort for me to wait until she actually did get free
