So, you have kids and probably have told them the same thing a thousand times. In their eyes, how many times they must hear the same "babble" from moms/dads and think "Ignore, Ignore"...we've heard that before, lol. So, what are some of the things you've said a million times?
-Close the door
-Stop jumping on the sofa
-Do your homework
-Eat your vegetables
-Brush your teeth
-Put on your seatbelt
-Go to bed
-Turn off the TV
#1: Hush! She LOVES to yammer on and on about anything and everything. Yesterday, I got the history of the gum on the bottom of her shoe that she had stepped in 2 weeks ago and I have since removed.
#2: Be careful/easy! We call her our BooDozer for a reason.
#3: Just do as your told! She questions and "buts" and "I was just" over every request even if it's me telling her she can go get a treat.
Instead of saying goodbye to my 18 yo, I sign off with:
"Remember to eat your fruits and vegetables"!
Get dressed, get shoes your shoes on, are you wearing socks? We're late!
Sit back down at the table, sit on your bottom facing forward.

I have had a list of rules on the frige since my grandson was 2. they are :

pay attention
follow directions
use your manners
be happy
give hugs & kisses & remember that I love you

When my daughter was little we numbered our rules. Rule #1 was....do not laugh under water ! At 33, she will still tell you what rule #1 is
We try to keep it pretty basic and simple - most things can fall into "Just do as I ask", such as taking shoes off when we come in the house, dirty clothes go into the hamper, clean underpants every day, etc., but sometimes DD just decides to argue and talk back to me over it and I'm like, really? I tell you this stuff every day, why are you deciding to have a problem with it right now and give me a hard time?
We have a zero-tolerance policy for whining, being sassy or using a disrespectful tone of voice, and also pestering/badgering for something we've already said no to. Then it's just time to go upstairs and spend some time in our room alone until we decide to be nice again.
Oh, and "Please pay attention" and "please focus!" - she gets distracted quite easily and when we are in a hurry to get ready to go to school or wherever, it's all we can do to keep her on task!

"Quit asking me to do impossible things!" (directed at my two year old, who often insists I reclose a package I opened wrong, fix something she irrepairably broke, give her food we don't have in the house, etc.)
