I tried furiously to get a red mark off of my niece's hand when she was a baby.....ummmm....BIRTHMARK! Duh!
Last night my daughter was brushing her teeth and all of sudden her mouth filled with blood and it started dripping out. She was screaming and all freaked out. I asked her what happened and what hurt and she said nothing hurts I don't know what happened. I am calm during all of this, and I have her rinse with warm salt water and spit until there is no more blood so I can look and see what is going on. I look and by her back molar it is a little swollen and red with a small white dot. Now I start freaking out thinking, OMG she has an infection, I am going to have to call off work and take her to the dentist in the morning, it is probably an abscess or something.
Now my daughter starts crying again and tells me I can't miss school mom, I have perfect attendance, I can't miss it, don't make me. Now my wonderfully smart husband walks in what is going on, so I tell him, and he looks at me and says, "is it a new tooth coming in? I look in her mouth and wiggle the tooth and you got it, she is losing her back molar and the new one is poking through. I felt like such an idiot for going to the extreme and not thinking of this, especially since she has lost 3 teeth in the last month.
So for the question, have you ever done something stupid like this?
PS: At least I didn't look like a fool to the dentist. I would have been mortified to get her there and have them tell me this.

Blood makes many of us freak out for a sec.
Glad it had a happy ending ;)
When I had my wisdom teeth removed, I was in some serious pain. I took me some prescribed Vicaprofin. A little while later, I got these huge medical tweezer things and started trying to remove a small piece of chicken that was stuck in the socket.
My husband (then fiance) came in was was like, "STOP!" Apparently, I was trying to grab at exposed bone and he could hear the scraping sound. I was so loopy and numb that I couldn't differentiate between bone and chicken.
It's easy to get worked about about dental things, that's one area MOST of us don't have a lot of knowledge of.
When my oldest was 6 or 7 I gave her a warm bath and when I pulled her out she was so hot! I took her temp and it was 103!! I freaked out until a little while later when she was normal. That bath was just too hot! Lol.
It was probably the blood that threw you off and freaked you out. I would be the same way.
i am a spazz!! I just can't help it! Now the whole time im blowing something out of proportion, im thinking of a solution but that initial "what the hell are we gonna do" always happens. Its a gift I like to think........
When my daughter was like 2 weeks old, I changed her in the middle of the night and put her mittens back on. A bit later she woke up screaming and her one finger was outside the mitten bent all weird. I cried because I thought I had broken her finger when I put it on her in the dark!! She was fine but I'll never forget how horrible I felt! Not really the same as the 'stupid like this' you asked about - but that was the first thing that came to my mind!
