My son has a dark spot on his top gums what appears to be a bruised gum or decayed. I can't tell what it is. Is this normal for a molar coming in? Of course it hard to tell since he won't let me see in his mouth. I am thinking of calling peditrician but wasn't sure if anyone else has had this happen and what it was?

This same thing happened to my daughter each time she cut a tooth. The gum would be black and blue from slight bleeding under the gums as the tooth came through. I took her to the drs once for it, and they assured me when the tooth came through, it would be fine.
And it was.
Still, if its enough to worry you, a trip to the doctor may be worth it, to put your mind at ease.
Don't worry, it's just a hematoma. My daughter had one and it freaked me out! It may be painful for a day or two and should go away on it's own. It's basically a blood blister in his mouth. Very common.
Sounds like a molar coming in. If he's uncomfortable, give him some motrin and maybe a popsicle to help numb the area. My daughter gnawed on frozen fruit in a baby safe feeder, that seemed to help her.
My daughter had what they called an eruption cyst. Her gum was swollen and looked blue so I took her to the dentist, he said it would just disappear after her tooth came which it did.
My son has the same thing he's also 15 months old... his grandma said it looks like blue ink but he hasn't gotten into a pen or marker or anything like that he's never touched a pen or a marker.. and its blue but its really reallly dark and im worried i don't know what to do if i need to take hime to the er or what i put my finger over it and he cried acting like it hurt him and its bumpy can anyone tell us what this is ?
No worries...totally normal with teething. I brought my son to the dr last year because of this (I called first and the nurse said that she never heard of a bruise on the gums, that I should bring him in...dr was not happy with her as this apparently is very common).
I called the dentist too. He suggested giving my son a spoon to bite on to help alleviate the pain.

My son is 5 yrs old and has brusing like coloration on his gums and in many areas...he never hit his mouth or anything...bringing him to the dentist tomorrow...anyone know what this is?
I've not had this experience but have much experience determining the cause of similar things. It's possible that it is a bruise and he could have chewed down on something solid hard enough to bruise his gum. It could be a blister caused my him rubbing it too hard or be an infection below the gum.
Gums don't decay. If he doesn't have a tooth, yet, and it looks like a blister or an infection call his doctor. I might call a dentist. They know more about teeth, even those not yet visible.
As to his not letting you look at it, I'm a believer that when it comes to health and safety I will look. Have a flashlight in your hand and turned on. If possible have someone to hold him and distract him with a toy or words. Then, open his mouth quickly when he's not expecting it and take a good look. This would happen at the doctors and by you looking you may know you don't have to go to the doctor.
Afterwards, compassionately sympathize with him.
