JFF - Favorite "Kid Time"

If my fiance is ever out of town the the night (or weekend, whatever) I loooove making all the kids get all clean in the bath, everyone puts jammies on, and we all cuddle up in MY bed, all 4 of us, and watch cartoons and kid movies and eat popcorn and junk food until we all fall asleep! It not only keeps my mind off missing my guy, but my parents room was forbidden to us as kids, so it's like we're doing something we shouldn't in a sense ;) I love having my babies curled up with me! (except my 7 year old, she ninja kicks in her sleep... she sleeps on the far side, LOL!!)

We love to turn up the music and dance around the kitchen, although my hubby does this with us too!

With my oldest 3 teenagers: They love it when I play XBOX with them! We are a 'first person shooter' loving family and have been known to throw down on some epic battles! Halo, Vegas and my personal favorite, Army of Two! They just think it is SO cool when Mom plays too!

With my 2nd oldest: He loves it when I stay up super late with him and watch scary movies! I was always careful with him when he was little about scary movies (he has ALWAYS loved them)...when 'Saw' came out he wanted to see it SO bad but I said 'No Way!' now that he is older we are working our way thru the whole creepy series, we are on # 3! He also loves to watch 'Dexter' with me! He is almost 17.

With my middle guys: We love to play catch! I love baseball and they love to play catch with me, something about knowing Mom can throw and catch a baseball is really cool to them! We also LOVE to watch Bear Grylls in 'Man vs. Wild' and Shark week! (ages 7 & 5)

My baby girl: I love to color and paint with her, it's our special thing...especially painting...nothing better than putting on our 'painting clothes' and tacking up a big clean sheet of white paper on the dining room wall and going to town, sitting side by side. Love it! I also really enjoy playing 'CandyLand & Shutes & Ladders' with her, they are so quick and fun to me still no matter how many times I play with her....and I can't wait till she gets older and I can introduce her to 'Operation'!
~Although I might have created a bit of a monster, when we play I purposefully try NOT to win and a few weeks back she came to me crying after playing Candyland with her 2 brothers and said (with alligator tears rolling down her cheeks) "Mom! Brothers cheating! It's NOT FAIR" and I said "How is he cheating"? to which she replied "He's not letting me win"!!! YIKES! :)

Oh, we love the dance thing too. It's so much fun. That and going to the park

our family is FAMOUS for our marshmallow fights! Seriously, my family has been having them for 40+ years now. It's a BLAST & friends/family love it.

My sons are 23 & 14.....& it is so much fun.....the first time their friends are initiated! Especially since I'm known as the Mean Mom!

We also do "summer snowball" fights....snowballs made out of sections of white pantyhose, filled with flour. They are excellent!

& I LOVE that my sons both enjoy vintage/classic movies. They will drop everything for Abbott & Costello, The 3 Stooges, & quite a few others!

We watch the Thriller video repeatedly and practice the moves. One day we are going to put on a show my husband will never forget!

We also like to watch wierd tv shows together - Greatest Catch, Nova, Planet Earth, any science, space, nature show you can think of. I wouldn't watch it alone, but it's fun with the kids.

We like to play with our water guns, but this usually ends up with Mom having the hose and Daddy and kids having the guns. I tend to get ganged up on. :) We also like to sing and dance.

Oh we LOVE to turn up the music really loud and dance around like crazy! We do it when my husband is home too because he loves to join in.

BUT

My husband hates it when I do this and thinks it's gross SO when he is gone I will take the can of whipped cream and spray it directly into my kids mouths before adding it to our ice cream! We laugh so hard! Then we get under the make shift tent we made out of the huge comforter on my bed and tell funny stories while eating our ice cream. Another thing he doesn't like (but doesn't give me a hard time about it) because he says our comforter will get dirty and it's too expensive to dry clean. We have yet to get ice cream on it! HA!
