Jff-what Else Have You Used Your Breastmilk For?

So, out of curiosity, and to see if it actually worked, I have been putting my breastmilk (and nothing else) on a cold sore I got Sunday. Haven't had one in 15 years and BOOM! Right there at the corner of my mouth. I was going to get Abreva, or some other treatment, but I remember seeing somewhere that breastmilk can supposedly cure just about anything, so I thought, "Why not?" Well, here we are 5 days in, and the cold sore (actually 2) are already past the crusting stage, and onto the healing! Its actually pretty cool!
So, have you ever used your breastmilk for some other purpose? :)

What can I do next?

So much for checking things out before trying to blast others...

And there are tons more articles online for anyone that cares to read before they type.

Never said it could be used at home... Anyways...
"HAMLET is produced by combining alpha-lactalbumin in the milk and oleic acid which is found in babies' stomachs," explained Assistant Professor Roger Karlsson from the University of Gothenburg } SO it still comes from the breast milk of humans which is what we were discussing. Breastmilk is an ESSENTIAL COMPONENT. But I get it... Some people have issues admitting that they should have done a simple Google BEFORE they put hands to keys declaring that something was not possible. Pretty sad state when you decide to read about such an amazing breakthrough only in the hopes of disproving something you'd clearly never read nor heard about. I forgive you.

My husband actually drank my breast milk when he was coming down with a cold. The cold went away pretty fast! But I couldn't watch him do it. Yuck!

For future reference, if you find yourself getting a cold sore take an "L Lysine" - I think it's a vitamin? I don't know, but it WORKS! My husband used to get cold sores all the time, but now when he feels that tingling sensation that says one is about to start, he takes an L Lysine and the cold sore never even shows up!

Well, all these answers are gonna sound weird, but I don't care... I'll add what I used mine for... Sunburn on my 3 yr. old when she got sunburned at a friend's house. I "read it somewhere" and thought... Hmmm okay... why not? I dabbed it on her shoulders and face and it did seem to go away quicker than usual with no blistering. Of course, I didn't allow her back in the sun for a few days and def. not with the milk on her. I think there are great things in mother's milk that modern society doesn't tap into.

Good question. I look forward to your responses!

Ear infections.
I know, sounds weird, but my husband swears by it.
So, when my little guy was tugging at his ears, I put some boob milk in. Viola, no more ear pain!

All my kids had a blocked eye duct, which caused the goop to build up in their eyes/eyelashes, so i squirted my breast milk in their eyes, and it seemed to work better than if I washed with baby shampoo and warm water. The crusty stuff took longer to build up after the breast milk.

BTW - fun question. I'll be back to read the rest.

I've used it to successfully treat pinkeye. You simply use an eyedropper to drop it directly into the eye, the same way you would any eye drops.

I have to say I haven't tried it for anything other than feeding but I'm looking forward to trying a few of these things. Breastfeeding now so maybe will start putting a little aside just in case. My husband sunburns and blisters sometimes. Next time will try putting a little breast milk on it and see if it helps. I have put a little in my husbands food. He tends to catch viruses or gets sick about 2 - 3 times a year so the other day slipped him some without him knowing. Maybe will continue to see if he keeps from getting sick.

Pink eye! And ear infections! It's amazing! My little 11 month old daughter developed the eye infection in a Saturday night, so obviously the Dr.s office wouldn't be open til Monday! I didn't know what to do, someone suggested breast milk in the eyes and lo and behold, it worked, I didn't need to call the Dr on Monday after all!
