I honestly do not think that I have ever had heartburn. I guess I am lucky. I am experiences weird symptoms and I cannot find this anywhere on the internet. Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated.

My symptoms started a few weeks ago and happens occationally but not all the time. I wake up at night because I am "baby puking" (you know where you throw up then swallow it). I wake up and realize I do it but I just go back to sleep. It happened at least 3 different nights and at least 3 to 4 times during those nights. The next day I have the feeling of throwing up all day and feel like I cannot swallow but I never throw up and I don't have a sore throat. I also feel like something is lodged in my throat. Sometimes, like today my chest hurts kinda like a tingle, like someone is poking me with a stick. It is the weirdest thing.

Just wondering if anyone would have any insite. I would hate to go to the doctor only to have them tell me it is heartburn.

What can I do next?

Sounds like acid reflux. I have it and I get that feeling like something is stuck in my throat and the awful pukey taste.I take two pills a day for it(Omeprozole). You can buy it at Walmart or Walgreens or Target. I would take one in the morning and one at night and see if it helps.

It sounds as though you might have reflux. This is something you should be seen for, as untreated reflux can break down the lining of the esophagus and cause esophageal cancer.

I'm not a doctor, but that's my guess. Go get it checked out. The acids could be causing a heartburn-like sensation.

Reflux. See your doc. There are plenty of meds out there to help.

Most of it sounds like reflux. But the poking with a stick-- that sounds like heartburn. I described it to my husband and doctor (I had never had it before EVER, including pregnancy, until 2 years ago and it came on suddenly and hard) as feeling like I had a gunshot would in my back next to my shoulder blade. OR like someone just had their index finger out really straight/stiff/hard and was just POKING me. It wasn't a pain per se, more like a soreness, but it was in a definite spot, not generalized.
Taking Prilosec for about 2 months made me feel much much better. Then I changed the way I eat and it hasn't really recurred. I am more sensitive to the onset symptoms than before. Before, I may have had some mild ones but didn't recognize what they were. Now I do.
And eating anything with mint, (mint Oreo cookies!) can bring the start of symptoms for me.

Definitely make an appt with your doctor though. To check it out and see what sort of treatment/preventative you should be getting. Or diet changes or whatever. If it is either/both (reflux and/or heartburn) you are actually allowing damage by leaving it unaddressed.

And don't be embarrassed for them to tell you it is heartburn. There are things you can do to help and avoid it. And you can get direction on how/what over the counter meds to try and how long you can use them. Most say not to use more than 2 weeks without consulting a doctor. Doctors can tell you if it is okay to take longer/more often than the package says.

Sounds like reflux to me. When I had a ulcer I felt that way as well like fire coming up my throat! If you want to try something otc get prevacid or something like that. You may want to take a trip to your doc just to be sure.

its reflux, , basically the flap that closes off your esophagus is either being lazy or is temporarily damaged(due to throwing up, couphing or stomach acid eruption.,this is allowing your stomach acid to creep into your throat when normally the esophageal flap would prevent that. You can take tums, papaya enzymes, drink water with baking soda in it, or juice a raw potato and add water to it, or coconut nectar . Limit your ingestion of tomatoes and tomato products, onions, garlic, mint, coffee, alcohol and creamy cheeses. Try to ingest alkaline foods. Sleep with your head propped up a bit and lying on your left side can help alleviate symptoms.

I never had this in my life until a few months ago, and then i had it for like 3 weeks strait. It was terrible! I did all the research i could and i tried everything i said above. Limiting the offending foods was the most helpful.

I suffered with acid reflux for over 20 years - I did go the Drs because of it and they were able to "band-aid" it but never get rid of it. For me - I found out the feeling in the throat is because the acid coming back up the esophagus was inflaming that area so it felt like I had a golf ball stuck in my throat and it was irritating to swallow anything. I also had chest pains - once severe enough that I went to the emergency room - it felt like a heart attack - once again just the reflux. I tried every over the counter product you can think of - they all worked for a while and then the cycle would start all over again. I found through better nutrition and taking a few all natural products that specifically helped to heal my entire digestive health system - I am now 2+ years completely reflux free. If you want more information on what I did please feel free to e-mail me at ____@____.com luck - believe me I know how miserable it is and I felt like it was something I would have for the rest of my life - so grateful I have this under control finally!

It's sounds like gastric reflux to me. I have a hiatal hernia, and have been on medication for years. What you are describing is definetly a symptom of reflux. They make a lot of over the counter medications. I would consider taking something like Pepcid or Zantac . See if that helps. You probably would benefit from seeing your doctor, and explain the symptoms to him. He might be able to recommend the best treatment for you.
