Is This Roseola?

My 15 month old daughter has been exhibiting textbook roseola symptoms over the past couple of days-- she had a high fever that started Sunday night and disappeared suddenly Wednesday afternoon. Then by Thursday morning, she had a bad rash that broke out across her chest, back, neck, and a little into her diaper area. Her daycare was confident that it was roseola. Now today her rash is worse. It's gotten more into her diaper area, is down her legs, on her face and at the tops of her arms. Her fever has not come back, thankfully. Nothing I've seen on roseola mentions the rash spreading, so now I'm worried that we've misdiagnosed her. Any ideas?

It was the same with my daughter when she had roseola. It's harder for us to look at than it is for them to have it. The rash doesn't itch or hurt but they are cranky usually due to recovering from the high fever that they've dealt with the previous few days. It sounds just like roseola to me but if you need peace of mind contact her pediatrician.

My son has had this a couple of times, and the rash is always worse on Day 2 than Day 1. By Day 3, it's cleared up almost entirely.

I would give it another day and see how it is. But it sounds like pretty standard roseola to me. The only weird part is the face. We've never had it there, and I believe that roseola usually avoids the face.

My oldest son had a really high fever for several days, then broke out in a rash, not sure how long. We only took him to the dr. when he had a high fever so it was never properly diagnosed. However, my mil is a pediatrician in another state. As soon as we told her the fever was gone and he had a rash she said, "Oh, thank God, it was roseola." Apparently it is pretty standard to get it from a daycare. I think you should not be worried unless the rash doesn't go away in the next day or two.

That happened to my daughter when she had roseola, but she was seen by her dr, so I know for sure that is what she had... Rashes make me nervous, I would take her in, better safe than sorry!! :-)

My son had it. He had a very high fever that when it broke, he got a rash. But it was only on his torso and did not spread. I would take her to the doctor if you notice it worsen.
