Hello all, First off I had my period and it lasted about 4 days and was normal, heavy flow. I've been off my period for a day or two and Well today and a little bit yesterday I've had a little bit of light color spotting and am having some cramping, but I'm not on my period anymore. What does this sound like? I've had all normal pap smears in the past and everything is okay and normal so I'm confused on what this spotting after my period is? Never really had this before, that I can remember anyway! Any advice or knowledge helps!

What can I do next?

You could still be on your period, or it could be breakthrough spotting if you're on the pill. When I was not on the pill, I'd have my period for a few days (normal, heavy flow) then it would completely stop for a day or two. Then, I'd get another couple days of very light spotting before my period actually ended. Now that I'm on a low-dose birth control pill, I don't have that issue anymore - I traded that in for occasional breakthrough spotting. I've noticed this only happens if I'm a little late taking my pill (even by just a couple of hours). I think having the spotting for once cycle probably isn't abnormal, but if it continues for several cycles (and this isn't a normal thing for you) then maybe call your GYN and talk to the nurse and see if she suggests an exam.

You may just be really fertile right now. The month I got pregnant with DD, I'd been off AF for a couple of days when I started spotting randomly. Never had that before. It lasted for a few days and then went away around the time I ovulated. Like you, I was baffled. I got my answer a few weeks later when my pregnancy test came back positive. In "Taking Charge of Your Fertility," it says that spotting like that could either be the sign of a problem, or you're just really, really fertile. You should probably call your GYN for peace of mind.

Probably normal. Last month when I had my period I only bled from 6 am to 2 pm everyday. After 2 pm I didn't need protection anymore until morning. Crazy but true. Our hormones aren't only on a monthly cycle but also on a daily cycle linked to our circadian rhythem.

Everytime we ovulate the hormones of our cycle are a little different. Sometimes we ovulate well and everything goes according to the book. Sometimes ovulation is poor and our cycle is weak and messed up. Could be related to something in our lives, could be totally random. Try not to pay too much attention unless you're having trouble getting pregnant.

Call your dr's office to doublecheck your situation. Are you nursing? I had the same thing happen at the beginning of the year. I had it occur two months in a row. My dr's office said it can be normal to have this. It may be ovulation. I was advised to call back if the spotting lasted 10 days or more or if it occurred three months in a row.
