Im 6 months pregnant and she is usually very active at night but she hardly moved last night. How do I know she is still alive or better yet is there a sign that would tell you if the fetus is not alive anymore this late in the pregnancy ?

What can I do next?

She is likely still alive - so don't panic. You need to call your doctor ASAP. Drink orange juice, lie on your side and see if the baby moves. Count kicks, and your doctor will tell you how many is enough, and whether or not to worry. If the baby does not kick enough they will likely schedule an ultrasound to check on the baby. At 6 months she is growing a lot, she may be resting up. She has a lot to do in the next 3 months before she's ready to meet you, so try to stay calm, and take things in little steps.

First of all, congratulations on your new baby girl!!! What a lifetime of joy you have ahead of you...now... don't panic...as the baby grows and takes up more room in your uterus, she is naturally going to slow down her movements and they will become less the rolling and turning that you have become used to and become more stretches and "punches" as she moves in more of a leisurely way.
I know of no "sign" that would tell you that something was wrong, that is a question for you OB/GYN but as long as you are not cramping, there is no bleeding, I would think you are alright. When do you have your next regularly scheduled appointment? If it is soon, I would try and just wait and go see the doctor as scheduled. If it is a while until you see the doctor, call in and talk with the nurse...she/he is going to be able to reassure you, or if there is a need , you can get an early appointment and go in to see your doctor.
In fact, I would just go ahead and make that call this morning and let them reassure you that everything is alright...and then you can enjoy your day and get a good nights' sleep tonight!!

Try not to panic, sometimes they take a break from all the bouncing around they normally do. Did you sleep much last night? Maybe she was moving while you were asleep and it just didnt' wake you up.

As far as I knew, my son hardly moved the whole last trimester. The thing was, while I was sleeping, he'd be kicking so hard he literally kicked my husband out of bed. When I was awake, he'd be asleep, and when I was asleep, he'd be partying big time. He was fine. If you have worries see your doctor. It helps when things are checked out and then you know if everything is alright or not.

Definitely call your doctor if you're concerned. Most likely everything is fine though. Mine stopped kicking for almost two days, until I realized it was because I was super busy those two days. So all my movement was putting him to sleep, and if he did kick, I just wasn't noticing because of everything that was going on. As soon as I sat down by myself in a quiet room and just relaxed for a while, he started right back up again.
