Yes it's normal. I'm on my second Mirena and while I'm one who hasn't had a period in years, I still spot once or twice a year and I can feel myself ovulate. But it's normal for some people to always have a period while on it.
I've had my mirena IUD for about 3 1/2 years now and I've always had my regular periods. My periods have never stopped like they said it "could". I never really questioned if it was a bad thing or not until a couple of my friends told me that they haven't had one at all. Is it normal to menstruate while on the Mirena? I hope so because mine have been regular for 3 1/2 years. Thank you :)

i had 'em for a little while after i got it in January '09....but i appear to be one of the luckier ones that doesn't have a period at all now. i have all the nasty symptoms though so i always know when i WOULD'VE had one! i'm sorry you still have yours, it sucks.
Yes. Sometimes I get mine, sometimes I don't! It is very unpredictable for me. I have had mine for 3 years as well.
Mine went from 3 days the first year, then 2 the second and now at over 3 years I just have spotting. My doctor after the first year said he was suprised I was still having them but that it was fine, but alot of women don't get them after having it put in.
I was told by my doctor that about 1/3 have a normal one, 1/3 have lighter ones, and 1/3 (the bestest third) don't have one at all. So, I would say what is normal?
