Is It Menopause

I have had 4 periods inside of 2 months. I have been to my doctor and they tested my hormones. She did a lab write-up stating menopausal symptoms, but everything came back within "normal" range. I am not under any significant amount of stress and my cycles have always been like clockwork. During my last pregnancy I was "diagnosed" (if you will) as having complete placenta previa. I had to undergo an emergency c-section at 32 weeks, during which they were contemplating taking my uterus because they had a hard time stopping the bleeding. Has anyone ever experienced this? I am only 34 years old and would like to find an answer to the infamous question "what's wrong?".

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I appreciate the response from everyone. To answer a few questions, My periods have been full blown periods. No spotting or anything like that. I am having a lot of abdominal pain especially after ovulation for about a week where I feel like I am about to start the worst period I've ever had in my life. Still not able to sleep, having the hot flashes all day long and night sweats. I am in the process of finding a good, well respected doctor for a second opinion. Again, I appreciate everyone's response and will update if/when I find anything out.

My sister was having an array of symptoms and was EVENTUALLY diagnosed with PolyCystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) and all of her tests (all 5 million of them!) came back within the "normal" range. She went to another doctor and found that though she was within the "normal" range, the levels, in comparison to one another, told a different story. Maybe that's the key? My point is, get a second opinion and don't stop until you're satisfied. Most, if not all, insurances cover a consult to get a second opinion. Good luck :)

relax:) there might not be anything really 'wrong'
If your ob/gyn checked for fibroids, endometriosis, cancer, and you don't have any other symptoms, then it is probably just something your body is doing naturally. Ir your not on any medicaion or taking any kind of birthcontrol pills, viles, shots, IUD. rule everything out first, before you start worring. Also think about at what age you and the other women in your family started menses and menopause.
Do you have horrible lower back and lower abdominal pain during ovulation that lasts more than an hour or longer than a day, and do you have unbearble pain during PMS or when your cycle starts?? Have the duration or heaviness of your cycles changed recently? your diet, what are you eating on a daily basis?? lots of soy?? if so, get rid of anything soy or soy based.
These are all the things I can think of. My cycles started changing recently, the last year, more regular, and more pain during ovulation and pms, and onset of cycle, but my dr. said this is usual in the mid thrities.
I'm just going to do a total lifestyle over haul, I quit smoking, drink more water, less caffine-refined sugar-alcohol, more gentle exersize, more water based food, lean meat, whole grain bread and pasta, and making sure I get enough sleep and rest, with four children and one being an infant I don't know how i've made these changes, but I did. You may not think a mc donald's meal can effect you in a bad way, not just one, but it does!!
thanx for listening, I hope this helps you:)

Does your doctor know your history? Like the other response, as long as they have checked you for fibroids, endo and other uterine problems and all is well, I wouldn't be too concerned. When you say periods, are they normal in flow and days??? Or is it more like spotting for a couple of days then stopping and starting again later...I'm sure they've tested you for pregnancy? Are you having any strange pains in your abdomen or pelvis? There are many other questions that need to be exposed to your doctor. Also, have you had your tubes tied??? I had mine done after my third child when I was 31 and less than a year later started having night sweats, hot flashes and a few other menopausal symptoms. It can happen early so don't be too surprised if that's all it is. I certainly hope it is something simple. Best of luck!

this is something i have learned through my many visits to diff doctors trying to find out the cause of some of my health issues. just because you are in the normal range does not mean its normal for you. see if their is anyway to look at your hormone levels at a time when you wernt pregnant or were feeling good. this could be the reason for the persiods. just try to remember the "normal" is text book not what is normal for you

T., "IF" your family is complete I just learned about a procedure called "Endometrial Ablation (I have provided the link so you can learn more about it & discuss with your doctor)

http://www.novasure.com/?gclid=CLaYzK2E3ZwCFR5HagodHCk3KA

There are NO hormones and No Hysterectomy.

I have the opposite, as am 10 yrs older than you but my cycles have been been 2 days and maybe a day of spot for at least the last 20 yrs give or take. The problem is that AF (Aunt Flo) can show up anywhere from cycle day 23-30.

The other option is for you to talk to your doctor about a BCP (Birth Control Pills) some like YAZ can help your cycle only be about 2 days and others like Seasonique can be taken for 90 days at a time then you have a cycle. Other than getting on the Birth Control "shot" that stops your cycles altogether from what I have heard but then they only want you on it for 2 yrs.

The only other thing is to get a second opinion from another GYN... and compare the notes. You can ask for a copy of your medical records and get a second opinion.

Wishing you the best for you and your family.

I'm not a doctor, but I thought that cycles would be completed. I've been going just about nuts with the hots, mood stuff, crazy eating, for too many years. Women married get support hopefully. Me, I'm single and everyday is challenge. I have not experienced what you are going through, but do know how it feels to just not know "where is the help and relief", without taking a chance on all the dangerous side effects. Checkout the Ultimate Healing Health Series,Bottom Lines, ISBN 0-88723-456-9, it might be in the library or Health Food store. I hope you find your balance.
