Irregular Bleeding

I am hoping someone will have some information for me. I have been trying to get pregnant for the past few months with no luck. I had a miscarriage in January at about 6 weeks. This month my period was 5 days late which is completely not normal for me. I did eventually get my perioed then. After my period was completely done I had vaginal bleeding when I have a bowel movement. This does not happen all the time, but it has happened twice in the last week. (my period has been over for about a week) I just bleed a little (a little in the toilet and when I wipe) but I am 100% sure that it is vaginal. Has anyone else had this happen to them? This is the exact way that I started to miscarry in Jan. I also know that i am not pregnant. My dr is going to call me back tomorrow. Any information would be appreciated!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I talked to my doctor last week and he stated that he thought that my bleeding was caused by implantation or a bacterial infection. My pregnancy test was negative- although I would have only been one week and as far as I know there was no sign of a bacterial infection. I am playing the waiting game again for my period this month. Thank you so much for all your advice.

Irregular bleeding is a symptom (sign) of many different things that you need to go to a dr for. Not just call a dr, but go VISIT a dr and get a full pap smear and the works.

I had the vag bleeding with pushing when my period first returned after breastfeeding. It went on for about a week and then I got my regular period back. My only other thought though is that you could have had another MC too.

No real answer here, but I hope this helps a little. We had no trouble with #1. However when it was time for #2, I was irregular with my periods, spotting, bleeding, thinking I was pregnant and then not for almost 7 mos....I found out that I was not ovulating that whole time. Went to my OB and one dose of Chlomid later, I got preg. I hope it is that simple for you and you have success. Good luck.

A period 5 days late could have been an early miscarriage, these happen fairly often. If the bleeding continues or if you have any other symptoms, you will want to have your doctor check this. If you have no other symptoms, I would wait to see if it goes away on its own.

Are you certain that you weren't pregnant and had another early miscarriage? Studies suggest that a large number of miscarriages happen and go unnoticed due to the early occurence. Hopefully you doctor will examine you and determine if your bleeding is vaginal or rectal. And if it is vaginal in nature it sounds like a blood test Hcg count and ultrasound is in order.
I wish you all the best!

Hi, J.!

Are you having any kind of cramping or sharp pains associated with the bleeding? Especially on one side or the other? If so, you need to get yourself to the hospital ASAP. Since you didn't mention it, you probably don't, but thought I should share my own story:

I had my last period at the usual time for the usual length and with the usual flow. Since my hubby and I recently started trying for our 2nd, I took a pregnancy test just before menstruation started. It was negative. The period came and went, and all was fine for about a week...until one night some sharp pains developed on my right side. I went to the bathroom, thinking it might be gas, and discovered I was bleeding vaginally. Since my cycle is very regular and I had already had my period, my instinct told me to go to the ER. Turns out I had an ectopic pregnancy that required immediate surgery. Since the egg had implanted just outside the ovary instead of in the uterus, I guess my body decided I wasn't pregnant and shed the lining. Plus not enough hormone had produced yet at the time I took my pregnancy test.

I certainly pray this is not the case for you, but all this is to say please stay in tune with all of your body's signals. Good luck, and please keep us posted!

this sounds a lot like what I went through having baby #2- 2 miscarriages within 4 months- back to back and then ended up getting pregnant right away (without knowing until I was 11 weeks pregnant). I would talk with your doctor about what is going on as they know your medical history.
