iPod Touch HELP!

Hi there,
Based on a lot of your feedback, we got our daughter an iPod Touch for Xmas. It came with little guidance and we are techno-idiots! We cannot figure out how to get it up and started. The battery is charged, but every time we try to use it the face just lights up with a picture of the USB cord with an arrow pointed to the iTunes icon. We can't figure out what to do and wish there was a good step by step instruction booklet. The one online doesn't help -- it says stuff like, "plug it in, click on the icon and follow the onscreen directions" but there is no icon or on screen directions. We may just end up going to the Apple Store tomorrow to see if they can help, but in the meantime, if any of you Moms (or Dads) are online tonight, see this and can offer some simple steps to get this up and running, we'd be very appreciative!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

FYI, we did have it connected to iTunes, but haven't been able to download anything.

Are you trying to download using the ipod itself, or through the computer program itunes? If the ipod is plugged into the computer, you will not be able to use it (it's screen is disabled until it's unplugged again). You download through the program.

This link might help. It shows a video. Good luck!

if you dont have an itunes account, you need to get one. After pluging in the ipod, an icon should pop up. If it doesnt no big deal, go to "My Computer" and click on it from there.

Dont feel bad about not knowing what to do, i am pretty technically savvy, and it took a while for me to figure out what to do.

You can also goodle it. "how do i connect my iopd to my computer" or " "ipod touch help" or "ipod touch"

lots of people have made how to guides.
good luck

We got one for our 9 year old, and when we went to itunes to "follow the simple step-by-bstep instructions" it did the same thing. My PC was blocking pop ups, so when I clicked on the yellow bar and allowed pop ups, it downloaded it. Piece of cake!

I have one, but can't remember what we did to start up. I am assuming that the pictue of the cord this means to plug it in to your computer so you can sign up with an itunes account. Then from there you can download music (by either buying from itunes or putting your own cds in the computer and downloading) That should get you started.

Have you tried this website? http://www.apple.com/support/ipodtouch/assistant/
Are you seeing that screen only when plugged in to the computer. That usually mean it is plugged in, therefore can only do things on itunes. Unplug it from the computer to use it.
