IPL Photofacial

Anyone ever received an IPL photofacial? I am going to be 40 next month and wanted to treat myself to a facial treatment that will show immediate results. I'd love to even out skin tone, reduce acne scars and reduce fine lines. I may buy a Groupon for the IPL photofacial. Thank you!

What can I do next?

I would be really cautious about buying an IPL treatment on Groupon. I saw one recently, which was going for something like $250 less than I had seen it other places, so I googled the doctor offering the treatment.

She had a 2 out of 5 star average, with most of the reviews being negative. These procedures can cause scarring if not done by a professional. Do your research and spend the extra money.

If it seems too good to be true, it usually is.

I have never heard of that type of facial and on top of that, I would never have any type of cosmetic facial or procedure through Groupon.

There is no such thing as a one stop facial that will take years of damage off your face. It is a process which begins in your teens and followed by daily routines, plenty of sunscreen, lots of water and the occasional facial.

Good luck.

I am about your same age. I did IPL to help with adult acne and it helped a lot. I'm not sure it would help with what you are wanting, though. For evening skin tone and acne scars, microdermabrasion is a way better way to go. I did see results there. Make sure to google the doc who will be doing the procedure- if it even is a doc. Just be careful!

I have gotten a series of IPL a couple of times. It used to be super expensive and now not so much.

A good doctor will tell you retina-a will give you better results. I think the retina-a does most of the work. Some people on youtube who take about aging swear by retina-a.

I also did thermage and was told to do a series of IPL before for better results. Expensive and not much in terms of lighter freckles and lines.

In my opinion using Obagi kit to lighten dark spots works better. I'm sure there are other brands, but Obagi was the one I used. I am not sure if the ones they sell online are the same grade as the ones at the doctor's office.

Also, IPL works best on light skin. I am light, yet still was overly impressed. I went to a dr who is known in Southern California for getting good results.

I did a series of IPLs and did not see long lasting results. I would see the equivalent of a nice facial the day off and maybe the day after, but then it fades. It was expensive & did not last. I am the same age as you if that gives you any reference. I agree with the other girls to spend the money on something like retina-a or Obagi or something with a proven track record for the results you're looking for.
