Intimacy After Baby

Would love advice on this sensitive, embarrassing subject.
I'm attracted to my husband and enjoy being intimate, but am having a tough time getting to a "happy ending" vs before my baby was born. My lil one is 6 months old and sleeping thru the nite (mostly!) and I have help during the day most days (I own a leadership consulting business), so I can't blame those things. Has anyone experienced this and if so any suggestions? I'm still nursing, so maybe it's the hormones?

What can I do next?

Prolactin can seriously impede a woman's libido, ability to lubricate and also ability to climax. Many of my long term nursing friends have had this issue...it is VERY normal for nursing mamas.

I also want to commend you for continuing to nurse...it is the very best gift you can give to your little girl.

Somethings that have worked are longer foreplay, really good lube my midwife suggested Astroglide, making sure you are very hydrated and having a glass of wine (to relax) before becoming intimate.

also if you have had any tearing or an episiotomy...you can expect this issue to be a worse

Every woman is different K.. Though, you are not alone.
Even though I had natural and uncomplicated childbirth with both my kids, my body still felt like it had been hit by a bus afterwards! Really, it took me about a year in both cases to feel comfortable in that area of my life.
My husband, thank goodness, was understanding and we found other ways to enjoy intimacy with each other.
Best of luck!

Two of my friends had the same thing happen to them. They said as soon as they stopped nursing when their children turned a year old, everything went back to normal. It probably is the hormones and if that's the case, you might have to just wait until you stop nursing. Hang in there! If you still have issues after you are done nursing, you should probably talk to your obgyn. I'm sorry I don't have any suggestions other than waiting it out!

I completely understand. The same thing happened to me. I don't really have any advice, I just wanted to let you know you're not alone. My daughter is 2 and I still have this problem. Sometimes it helps if I help myself while being intimate.

Hey K. don't be embarrassed, it's great that you are attracted to your husband, it very well could be hormones. I know for me my breast are very sensitive and I can have what you call a "Happy Ending" from being touched, I'm 51, having a baby puts your whole body out of wack, give it a little more time. And then maybe aske your doctor if that could be it. Good Luck J.

Seriously, work on your Kegal exercises. Weak pelvic muscles are a VERY common culprit of postnatal sexual dysfunction.

Good ,morning! Well maybe your mind is worried for the baby, something that you didn't have before. Clear your mind and have a drink to relax you; use something that help you to creat the most exited moment of your life, like: lotions with fragance that wake you up sexually of course; candle, bath; be creative, use your imagination; wherever you want, because your husband deserve all of that. Pray to God for a good intimacy, He knows all aour needs.
