Indoor Play Areas in Fort Worth?

Hi Moms - we have a nice park near the house that we go to when the weather is nice, BUT with the rainy season coming up, I want to find indoor places to burn off some energy. We live in West Fort Worth, near 30 & 820. There's a McDonalds play place on 199, but I'd love to find something closer or something different. We usually eat first at home, then go to the "fast food" play places so we're not hungry and stuck with fast food.

Maybe a bounce house place or something like that?

ADD: My son is in Kindergarten, so we're looking for weekend back-up or late afternoon during the week :)

Any ideas or suggestions?

What can I do next?

I am a bit directionally challenged, so forgive me if I am sending you further from home...but Ridgemar Mall off Green Oaks in FW has a great toddler play area. It's all foam and meant to be climbed on. Go earlier in the day. When school is out, the bigger kids can take over a bit. That mall also has toddler sized tables at the food court. We used to go there for snack. My kids just got a kick out of having "their sized" tables.

There are lots of bounce house places...leapin' lizards, let's Jump and Pump it Up are a few in our area. Some have toddler play times specifically for kids under 5.

Also check with local churches. Some have some terrific indoor playgrounds. Our favorite is a little bit of a drive to Grapevine. It's Paradise Pond. You pay $1 per person. Inside they have a bounce house, playscape, kid rock wall, dress up center, car center, doctor/baby center, building center, doll house center, a kid powered merry go round and a push cars to ride. It's only open a few hours a few days a week, but it's great way to get out of the house. There are many other churches in the area with open play times. Some are free and some charge around $1.

The FW Science Museum has a great play area for kids. We are members there and have been for a few years. It's pretty reasonable for a membership. They have a pretend grocery store, pretend hospital, a baby play area, train track area and kid computers. Plus many of the exhibits there are geared towards children, they are meant to be touched, manipulated and climbed on (the Grossology exhibit has a digestion slide, the dino dig, oversized dinosaur puzzle, ride the horses and herd cattle, etc.).

Do a google search for "indoor play areas in FW". A ton will show up. Then you'll be able to pick in choose the stuff that is closest to you.

Search DFW moms or one of those sites, I'm in N. Ft. Worth and can tell you of at least 3 up this way. All are in churches that graciously open their pre-school play-scapes to the public on certain days at certain times of the morning. Some have a small fee of $1-3 and most have waivers you have to sign releasing them from liability. Also, Ridgemar & Hulen Malls have pretty nice although sometimes too busy for comfort play areas. That way you're not locked into being in a food place.

Check out your malls.

For us, the big one in Chattanooga has a nice big play area inside..

Our local mall doesn't have a play area, but it does have an arcade/bounce house place that only costs $2.50 during weekday afternoons. :)

There's a bouncy-house place called Pump It Up next to Ridgmar Mall - and the mall itself has an indoor play area.
