I am in search of a new pediatrician. The one we would go to was alright but not what I was looking for. My daughter is now 12 months, when she was 11months she had to have her blood taken. The Nurse and her guy assistant weren't very sympathetic. Me and my husband went together. So the guy was holing my daughter down while the nurse was tying her arm to take blood. the thing is they kept making stupid jokes (which in my opinion... at a time like this... it wasn't time to be fooling around). My daughter was crying and her whole face became red.. it's not a pretty site for a mother to see tears and not do anything about it. Well to top it off on her right arm she couldn't find the vein after poking her about 5 times then she moved to the next arm again the same thing. While my little one was screaming. Then the nurse and her assistant kept making jokes and flirting with eachother all at the same time of telling us that little ones don't feel pain like we do. WHY would she be crying then they were holing her down and kept poking her. Oh god it was the most horrible time ever! I swore id never go there again. They made us so upset. All i want is a pediatrician office that is friendly you get in and out, all your questions answered and that's all! Well anyway they called the next day but we couln't answer so they had left a message, my daughter had a cold so i ended up not taking her... to top it off because of that they sent us a letter saying they could no longer treat my daughter! Not that upset over it but however i am in need of a new one! So if you live around Holiday NPR area and you have a good pediatrician id love some references. sorry i had to let it out im still upset over this. I hope someone has some numbers i can call on tuesday. Thanks so much
We go to North Pinellas Children's Medical Center on Little Rd near Trouble Creek. Someone else said Dr. Dwyer. He s at this office, we see C. Armstrong, she is great! We have seen Dwyer a few times too in emergencies. ###-###-####
I love the pediatrician that we go to right now, East Lake Pediatrics. They have an office on Little Road @ Mitchell and one in East Lake. There is a male (Dr. Mike Jordan) and a female doctor (Dr. Amy Harbage) that alternate offices as well as a female nurse practitioner (Jen). I have had nothing but great experiences with them, whether it is getting in quickly if my son is sick or having to call them after hours, they are more than happy to help you out with whatever they can. I always have an easier time with appointments in the Trinity office. You can reach them @ ###-###-####. I think their office hours at 8-6 Monday through Friday. Good Luck!

Your former Dr. sounds like a monster an unqualified to be practicing if they can't even draw blood properly. I have a wonderful married couple peditricians. Drs. Hi - I don't know where you live but we go to Dr. Tim Vaughan - Bay Pediatrics 1725-A East Bay Dr, Largo, ###-###-####.
We met him when he was in a big practice and loved him from day one...he went out on his own and we followed. He's a one man office...so you see ONLY him...he knows you...the Nurse Valerie knows you...he answers his pages...even on Sunday with his own kids playing in the background...if you need to come right in...they take you...I've never waited more then 5 minutes to see him...at the end of the exam - especially well visits he sits right in front of you and asks you what questions you have...I ask him everything...
He's young late 30's I would guess!! I couldn't say enough good things about him.

I don't know if they are also in your area but my kids go to Pediatric Healthcare Alliance. They have many offices and are all conected so if you can not go to your primary one you can go to their other offices. Every office I have been to the doctors nurses and office staff is great. When my daughter had blood drawn my husband or myself would hold her. The nurse was talking and cooing to my daughter the whole time. All the doctors talk to the kids as if they are people.
The good doctors are those that will be patient in answering all questions and like to talk and interact with the kids themselves. Good Luck in finding one. I am so sorry for the bad experience. That type of office will make the kids affaid to go to their doctor.

We use River's Edge Pediatrics, specifically Dr. Montemayor-she is the owner of the practice. They do have another MD there & also a ARNP, but we prefer her. We interviewed about 4 offices in this area before my son was born & found that she was the most willing to do things the way we desired, not stick him into some "office protocol" routine. We delayed vaccinations for a little while & she is more than willing to work with us on that. Some of the offices wouldn't even consider seeing us if we requested to do that, so based on where we live & her being relaxed & easy to deal with, we chose her. The staff is nice too.
We had a similar experience to yours at the hospital, though it wasn't their fault since my son was dehydrated from an illness & they tried all four limbs before finally getting an IV in the foot...very stressful for us all!

I can remember when my youngest son was sick and they needed to take blood and they don't want the parents upset because they feel that if the parents get upset it will upset the kids and they will have a hard time,so they will ask you to leave the room while they take the blood.

I am not sure who you are speaking of but we had the same problem with our old PEd when our daughter was about 6 months old and it was a nightmare. My husband ended up in a verbal fight with the PED and the Np and then they sent US a letter to find someone else LONG after we found our new Ped. We have had them now for 6 years and they ROCK!! It is a husband and wife team and the wife is also a lactation consultant.

They are excellent when you nned to talk after hours and they always follow up if you have to go to the ER or Urgent care like we have had to many times including just last week. They will call you late at night with test results and will also call ahead to the Hosp if need be. Very caring and understanding and the girls in the office are super sweet.

My son (9 mo) has the BEST Dr. ever! Dr. Jay Harvey. I have never felt more comfortable and when they give dylan his shots they are very quick and efficient. The staff is very very knowledgeable and friendly! They make you feel like family, he always spends 20 minutes at the LEAST in our room. he will answer any ?'s you may have and doesnt EVER Rush

You didn't specify where you are at, but we have loved the Pediatric Healthcare Alliance system. We used to live in New Tampa and went to the one on BBD/FLetcher area then moved to carrollwood and see the one on Gunn Highway and have been to after hours at the Carrollwood location on Medaka (?) and the one in South Tampa. We were always pleased with the doctors and staff.

I love our Dr, he is on little rd in New Port Richey, but they will be moving to 54 in Trinity shortly. We go to Dr Dwyer and my first daughter was 8 weeks premature and they have been great. ###-###-####

I love my daughter's pediatrician! I was referred to them by my GYN which is right next door so it was convenient. She is 21 months now and has been going to them since she was born. I take her to The Pediatric Specialists - 2114 Seven Springs Blvd. NPR 34655 727-375-KIDS (5437). All of the doctors there have been great and I see Christopher Pope most of the time, he is a nurse practicioner. It is very important to go to an office that you feel comfortable with.
