Could be anything. If she is not better after 3 days of antibiotics, you need to go back. And keep going back until you get your answer.
My 4 year old(girl) is having persistant high fevers that burn to the touch (that comes and goes) and joint pain for 6 days now. She wakes up in the middle of the night screaming in pain. Has a very small apetite too.We took her to urgent care 3 days ago and they said she had a UTI. She is taking 2 1/2 tsp of amoxicilan and 2 tylenol chewables. Seems like she is just getting worse. Could it be more then just a UTI?
Thank you for your responses!
I have been fiddling with a new dr's office to get her in. She has an appt later this afternoon. I will keep you posted on her!
Thanks again!
So they antibiotic that was given to her from the urgent care wasn't right!
Dr asked me to re,move her from all medication for a day and start a new one she wrote up.
Joint pains are from growing pains!
Aparently most kids go through it after the summer. Some may have it more severe(like in our case) then others.
If her fever still keeps coming back then we are going to have to do blood work!
She might have hyperthyroidism and something with her lymphnods, but this could be because of her fever...
Hopefuly by next week we can figure this out!
Thank you all again and I will keep you updated!
:)

give her a lot of cranberry juice for the uti
Call the doctor now and tell them she is not getting better. 3 days on antibiotics should have started to see improvement. Check her body for a rash. Sometimes amoxicillin can cause allergic reaction/ rash.
GO BACK TO THE DR!! 3 days after being seen by a doctor, her fever should have gone down by now. Give her an ice pop (helps with dehydration), and go back, like, RIGHT NOW. Hope she feels better soon, poor baby!! Sounds like she needs some stronger meds, a re-evalutation, and probably some IV fluids. Poor thing :(
Take her back! It's either not an UTI or it's a UTI caused by an organism that those antibiotics are not covering. Sometimes a UTI can cause infection elsewhere in the body. Either way she needs to be seen again. Hope your little one gets well soon!
Take her to the doctor!! My daughter seizes when her fevers get high and that freaks me out!! Take her back and get them to fix her! They may have been wrong the first time around!
She may be allergic to the medication. I have an allergy to penicillan and sulfa, and what it felt like was that I was burning on my skin but freezing on the inside. It was horrible. The doctors may not believe you, but maybe you should insist she try a different medication. As soon as they switched me to something else, those symptoms went away (within hours). Take care, C.
