If Given the Opportunity, Would You...

... go on an investigation with a reputable, professional ghost hunting crew?

When I was pregnant with #3, I was accepted to join a ghost hunting crew... but being pregnant, it was NOT flying with my husband, and I respected that. The position has obviously since been filled... but I'd love to try to get back into a group... call it a hobby; more often than not, these people offer their services for free.

Now that I'm not preggers, my husband supports this, but would NEVER do it himself, LOL!!

Even if you're a sceptic, or if you're a believer, would YOU go on a ghost hunt if given the opportunity? Why or why not?

If yes, is there anywhere in particular you'd like permission to investigate? Mine would be Hollywood Cemetery, here in Richmond... even during the day, weird stuff goes on there!!

What can I do next?

I think it would be interesting. When I was younger and living in NJ we used to read weird new jersey. It was a magazine about haunted places in the state and weird stuff that they would find.
I don't think that all sprits are evil just lost or maybe not wanting to accept that they are dead.

Here in St Louis there is the Lemp Mansion. We used to go there to dinner all the time and try to get the ghosts to show themselves. We even brought a priest with us once. No luck! :(

yes, sounds fun. Seems like anyone enjoys scary or suspenseful movies would like it. My Christian roots say don't invite spirits in. The Devil is a master of disguise and his angels are among us. But, the thrill seeking side of me says it's nothing a little Holy Water can't wash off!

No. to quote Tracy's (first half ;) "My Christian roots say don't invite spirits in. The Devil is a master of disguise and his angels are among us."

Besides, I've seen too much without having to go on a hunt for it!

Our friends once owned a hotel called Miss Molly's that was once a brothel, that was famous for ghosts, but we never saw anything there.

I would love the thrill of it all indeed and I am a believer, HOWEVER....I would never go on a ghost hunting trip or be in the middle of an investigation of a haunted house etc. Reason being is that when you do, you open the door to the possibility of entities following you, demonic or otherwise. It is a high risk that you take.
It's a good thing you didn't do this while being pregnant. I am intrigued and the Hollywood Cemetary would be so interesting to investigate or just to be there to see what all goes on there. There are nice spirits, but also angry spirits. Be careful if you do go...and PLEASE come back on here and tell us your story if you get the chance to witness anything. :-)

I would love to but I probably would be too scared to. If I could bring my husband with me (I know silly but....) I would. I would love to check out Gettysburg, the Winchester house, or anything really. It would be fun but scary too.

I actually used to be a Paranormal Investigator for a local group. It was a good time, really enjoyed myself. I ended up leaving around the time I became pregnant. Pros of it would be the experiences, the friends you make, and getting time to do something you enjoy. The Cons: You are normally out until 3-5 a.m. and you sleep the next day away, reviewing hours of footage/recordings, setting up and taking down the equipment.

I would love to investigate St. Augustine Lighthouse. So creepy!

Absolutely! I personally believe in the paranormal and would LOVE to do something like this! Make sure it's a credible group who actually believes though and has done their research so you don't waste your time with a bunch of shmucks who just want some attention. Sylvia Browne is one of my favorite authors/people...I miss Montel's talk show bc they are good friends and she would come on his show quite often. I would go for it...if you don't like it or it freaks you out, at least you can say you tried it.

Have fun and let us know how it went if you go =o )

YES! I believe because I've personally had too many things happen over the years that prove to me they exist. I don't think they're all "bad". I look at them as angels instead of ghosts. :)

R.!! As soon as I read the very first line of this post I knew it was you (before checking to see)!

Personally, I would definitely NOT want to do that. I don't even like going to haunted houses or walks or hayrides during Halloween. I DO like scary movies, but that's because I am not personally involved. Once I actually start to fear for my own safety it's not fun for me anymore.

Nope, that would be a waste of time in my book. I don't believe in ghosts so all I would be doing is walking through a dark house with a bunch of doodads that click and whistle for no good reason. lol

Wow - would LOVE to! I fell in love with the idea when I first saw the movie Poltergeist when I was very young. There is even a program (or, there was...not sure if it's still offered) at the University of Santa Barbara, CA that offers paranormal studies. I've always wanted to experience something like that.
Don't know where I'd go - your mention of Hollywood makes me think of the Hollywood, CA cemetery. There is also a neat one in Dallas as well.

Just came across this. Actually, a post from today made me remember a post that I THINK you made a while back about weird happenings at your house, with the back porch and the basement, if I remember correctly? Anyway, I came across this question (that I missed the first time).

And NO, I would not. For the same reasons that I responded to today's post about psychics. If I were a skeptic (didn't believe in it) then what would be the point? And if I were a believer in spirits (which I am) then they are not something I want to mess around with or invite to "notice me". I thought it was interesting that one poster mentioned psychic abilities being "gifts from God"... as the Bible clearly states that to consult with diviners is wrong and should be avoided. Not because they don't exist or don't know things (supposedly) but because of where they get their information. Here's a clue: it isn't from God. And anything told or shown to them by the spirits they are communicating with may be true, or may be a lie from the father of lies, whose favorite way to lie is to slightly twist the truth for his own purposes.
Just a really bad idea. That's my "why?" Would I find it interesting? Probably... but that's just one more reason, in my book, to stay away from it.
