My brother and sister are twins, they will be turning 21 in september but my sister will be in Thailand for her bday so I am throwing a surprise party at my house in a couple of weeks. I have invited family including grandparents and some of their college friends. Im planning on having finger foods, sandwich platters, fruit platters, veggie platters and making cake pops. Im going to have punch and some sodas and water there. What are some fun things I can incorporate to make it seem exciting for the college students but still sutiable for grandparents? My house is very small but I didnt have any other choices for locations, I will have fun music in the back ground and some decor. Any ideas will be helpful!! Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone for the great ideas!! I will see what we can incorporate into the party! I knew beer or alcohol of some sort would prob be the norm for a 21st bday, I was hesitant bc they won't actually be 21 yet and the grandparents will be there! lol But I may figure something out!!

Lattegirl- I will send some sun your way!! Texas is roasting down here!! 114 degrees and humid!! haha

Oh the party starts at 1pm would there be a summery drink that people drink in the afternoon??

Beer? Seriously (not meant to offend anyone), but college kids celebrating a 21st birthday typically want some booze. Nothing "off the wall", but snacks and a pinata simply aren't going to do it here.

Definitely pick a theme and go 100% with it. Luaus are fun and easy to do. College kids LOVE wearing costumes, so if you could incorporate that, definitely go for it. Go with a 90's sitcom theme and see what that brings! Think of the possibilities... Seinfeld, Frasier, Full House, Roseanne, Friends, Married with Children, Fresh Prince... so many ways to participate for everyone!!

Have fun and remember that while the grandparents are invited, the party is about the twins!

Card games.. Lol 21 black jack.. Karaoke. Maybe set the karaoke up outside with a stage area and a drink bar.. Since it sounds like Texas is having warm weather. It rained in Seattle yesterday... Doesn't even seem like summer yet..boo..
Good luck and have fun:)

you could do a Hawaiian theme Luau. Themes are big at college parties.

for a special occassion like "21" I like to get gift cards to their favorite places for $21 and make a centerpiece out of them by putting them on a stick and into a stryrofoam ball and then decorated to the theme of the party. It might be fun to have people guess the prices of things "21" years ago. Have fun!

Actually make the cake pops at the Party... :) Boys, Girls, Men and Women have a great time decorating. If you are already familiar with making them, teach everyone how and then enjoy them. Remove the chairs from around the kitchen table so you can get more people around it.

Have a great time with whatever you decide!
