I am about to take 2 year old on a long road trip. This is not our first trip, but I was considering different sleeping arrangements for him. I usually take my pack n play and he sleeps in it. However, he is getting bigger and never really slept well in it to begin with. I considered getting bed rails, but after reading the reviews it seems as though they are timely to put up. I was just browsing through the onestepahead web site and saw a cot and also a little trundle bed? I am curious if anyone else has used these or some other suggestions. Thanks

I too purchased the Aero Bed for Kids for my 24 month old (she's too tall to sleep in the Pack-and-Play). We LOVE it. It inflates and deflates in second and it's not too bulky (definitely smaller than the Pack-and-Play!!)

My children are older now ... and so I checked on the net. Once the pack and pack outgrew its usefulness, we went with the bed rails. They fold ... and are no problem. They can be packed so easily. The only problem that we found that once you go to rails ... there's no going back. Our children had rails at home ... the same ones we took on travels. They just slide in between the mattresses and are collaspible.

When I travel with my 2-year old, I bring a portable bed rail - it slips right under the mattress. It does not take up much room, sets up in 2 seconds and can be used at home when your son is in a big boy bed. And of course I sleep on the other side of the bed. Any other portable bed will take up a lot of room in your car, but if you don't want to sleep with your son, they work too. Just depends on how much stuff you want to lug around and unpack from your car and potentially how restless a sleeper your son may be - you know, how many times he'll kick you in the head at night ;).

We had the same problem and found the perfect solution. We purchased an Aero bed for kids. It is a little smaller than a twin but bigger than a crib mattress. It blows up in seconds and deflates just as quickly! It comes with raised sides so no rolling out and a super super soft sheet. It has it's own storing case and doesn't take up any room in the car. We love it! Good luck.
I purchased the cot from onestepahead and my son is 2 1/2 and sleeps on it very well. He goes to daycare and they use similar cots for nap time. I suggest letting him sleep on it a few times before you go on the trip, to get used to it, just so that its not too much change with the trip and a new bed.
