My 4-year-old daughter's class is having an April birthday celebration. I need ideas for not-too-sweet treats for the kids. There are 25 children in the class. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

How about those mini muffins sold at the food store in the bakery section? My kids used to LOVE those when they were younger.

What about cut up fruit with maybe a dip that wouldn't be any messier than cup cakes.

What about frozen juice pops? Not sure what your school says about popcorn but if they ok it maybe popcorn or even mix in some M&M's for just a little sweet and color.

What about banana bread or zucchini bread? Make sure to omit nuts if the school doesn't allow or any kids have allergies. A friend of mine made the banana bread recipe from Jessica Seinfeld's book, Deceptively Delicious, which had cauliflower in it ... it was really yummy. My 2 year old loved it! Not sure if those recipes would do well in muffin pans or not but that might make for easier serving.

I used to make cupcakes using ice cream cones for the base.
Just pour the cake batter in the cones and bake them then ice them with icing or whipped cream. My kids loved them.

What about apple slices? I have seen pre-prepared individual packages of apple slices available at the store (like McDonald's apple dippers). You wouldn't have to include any kind of dip (which could be messy or have too much sugar).

Ants on a log. Get small plates, cut up celery, pass out raisins and p.b. on a plastic spoon for each kid. Let them make the ants on a log all by themselves. By the way, check with the teacher for nut allergies beforehand. You could also do fruit skewers...kids like to play with thier food and it's something they will remember. Little juice boxes would be a great drink for them or some tiny cups for milk.
