Ideas for Helping 9 Month Old "Get It Out"

Any ideas on a food or drink that will help my 9 month old get a bowel movement out? She is a breastfed baby though she does eat baby food. We just moved to stage 2 foods so I'm thinking this may be contributing to the change in BM's. Anyway, I seem to remember someone saying apple juice would help so I gave her about .5 ounce yesterday and so far it hasn't helped. Thanks for the ideas!!

What can I do next?

Ok, this might be totally coincidental, but it's worked for us both times my baby has been "backed up." I have a 7-month old who is breastfed and as soon as we started her on solid foods, she started having trouble "getting it out." So, I made some bran muffins and put some Benefiber in the recipe and I ate two or three of them a day. She seems to have responded to the difference when I'm breastfeeding her, because her stools have been softer. Does fiber pass through breastmilk? I have no idea, but, like I said, it seems to have worked for us, so you might give it a try along with the prune or apple juice. Good luck! :)

You might want to try some baby fleet. We had to use that some when our kids were small. Good luck.

Karo syrup (1tsp) mixed with 1 or 2 oz of water will do the trick.

My Pedi advised me to mix some prune juice (1-2 tablespoons) with her milk and it worked for us. My daughter is breastfeed too.

My breast fed baby had the same problem. If she takes a bottle someetimes than put some Karo Syrup in her bottle. You can put it in juice or milk or mix it up with her food. It works like a charm and is perfectly safe.
