This is cool. Hang them from the ceiling.
Good Luck!

I'm the executive Assistant to the President and VP of a 75 yr old family business. My boss recently asked me to organize his office. I'm fine with that, and rather enjoyed the challenge. He has many items that are rememberances oWf his Dad's days running the business. in a bucket behind the door are 5 or 6 branding irons from the early days, and from their family ranch. He obviously cherishes his "old things" - I think it would be the coolest thing to display those branding irons in some cool way. We live in an area that is very "western" and our office is near the stockyards which is a very historic area of Fort Worth. So...here is my question, does anyone have any ideas for me to display those? links or websites or pictures would be cool. I googled and couldn't find any ideas. Thanks in advance!
Wow! Great Ideas so far! I'll check these out. They ARE long enough to display on a gun rack, but our ceilings are not very high. I'm loving the ideas of branding in wood or leather. You guys are giving me a direction to head into....

Curtain rods. Not actually have the curtains hanging from the, but have the branding ends being the decorative 'ends' that show over the edges of the windows
Wall mounted (like fishing rods, or a gun rack, just smaller)
Brand a piece of leather with one to shadowbox mount, and mount the iron underneath
have them mounted in a framed backdrop....using a color for the backdrop which would represent your company logo/colors.....or on a nice mellow-toned buckskin.
OR elevate them to artwork status & have them on a table/credenza as an "arrangement".
locate old photos of the original business/setup....+ old photos of the family. Hang these gallery-style in matching frames, with the branding irons hung amongst them.
Check out Country Living magazine's website.
I wonder if the handles are long enough that you can use a gun rack to display them on?
And I saw the display at the museum, but you'd have to have high ceilings to make it work.
My boss has a branding iron hung on a black iron hook from a piece of wood. at the bottom, just under the iron is the brand stamped into the wood. The wood is a frame/display rack for the iron, and shows the brand, which is very cool. If you could get some rustice looking wood and a blacksmith to help you, you could get 5 boards made and hang them behind his desk.
Or you could make a template of each brand and stencil them directly on the wall and hang them from iron hooks above the stencil. The brand itself is usually really cool. I would look for a way to decorate with the brands.
