Ice Skateing Lessons in the Metroplex for 4Yr Old?

My 4yr old daughter has recently showed an interest in ice skateing. She loves dance (ballet, tap, modern). She has on several occassions expressed her strong interest in learning to dance on ice skates. This would be something totally new for us so I have no idea where to start. Any suggestions?

What can I do next?

All of the Dr Pepper Stars Centers in the area offer lessons for little ones beginning at age 3. We have not gotten to that point personally but we checked into pricing on it for our son when he gets to that age in the event that he wants to play hockey. I know there is one at 35 and valwood pkwy and one in grapevine mills mall but I am sure there are others in the area.

I wouln't do it at one of the mall locations. We have done it through the Dr. Pepper Stars Center in Euless for years and LOVE it. I would think any Stars Center would be great.

Hello!

I know they have ice skating at the Parks Mall and I'm sure they have lessons there, because I've seen what looks like lessons.

Also, at the Westin hotel in Dallas they have an ice skating rink. I watched a girl who couldn't be anymore then 4 get a lesson there.

Hope this helps!

Take care and God bless!

I agree with most who have suggested the Stars Centers. We have skated there for years and they are all great. Pricing seems to be pretty standard any where for basic lessons. Different coaches are different prices for private lessons.

We take lessons at the Ice Garden at the Plaza of Americas down town. Not crowded AT ALL (I, too, would avoid the malls at all cost!), and so far, the group lessons have had a fabulous student to teacher ratio (my daughters class has 2 girls). Not sure where you live, but if you are in the city and not the burbs, it's very convenient. We take the DART train, and the Pearl stop is right in front of the building. The kids love the train ride and the lessons are great. Here is their website if you are interested....

btw, I've seen 2 & 3 yo's take lessons there so your daughter will be fine at 4.

Hi D.:

Funny you should ask this question!

I just took my boys ice skating at Stonebriar Mall yesterday. I believe their rink is called "The Ice". I asked them if they had classes for little ones and they do!

Stonebriar is located in Frisco, right off of 121. If you are familiar with IKEA, it's right across the street. You can also find their contact information on the Stonebriar Mall website.

Have fun!
