I would suggest not waiting a whole week. Do you have an urgent care place that you can go to. That would probably be cheaper than the ER. I would def. go see a doc though.
ok so call me crazy but i was walking downstairs at work going for a smoke break...in the process, my ankle popped (i surley felt it-didn't really hurt) but now i can't walk down stairs AT ALL or much less walk without a limp. after doing my research and asking around it's probably a torn achilles.
any suggestions on home remedies between now and a week from now til i can get to the dr and help keep it from hurting more?
i am usure either way, so as long as i can take a long lunch, i have an appointment tomorrow, i think it's at least partially torn
Well guys, i babied my foot last night, i put ice on it, wrapped it up for pressure and stayed off it. it's feeling MUCH better today, i'm not trusting it's ok, but will baby it for a while and see what happens, doc gave me urgent care clinic's incase the pain comes back

Waiting 1 week, until seeing the Doctor is too long.
Go to an ER.
Waiting too long can make things worse.
And you need a real medical diagnosis.
Don't guess at it.
My husband has torn both of his in the past at different times. He only had to wait a day or two before getting in to the dr. He used crutches until then and following surgery he was in a big black boot for a while with rehab too.
idk, i know a couple folks that have torn the achilles, and i can assure you they were unable to sit and type a long message on their computer. if you feel that you can wait a week, it's prob not torn, but strained, maybe even severely strained. if you truly think it's torn/ruptured, i'd encourage you to get to an urgent care or ER - waiting a week is a recipe for disaster - you've got circulation issues to consider, not just pain management.
This has happened to me, and it's not torn, just sprained. As Jennifer posted earlier, you wouldn't be able to endure the pain if it was torn. Best thing to do is keep you foot in a tennis shoe, as much as possible. It will help with the support so it can heal. And probably some pain medication. Hope it gets better!!
