I Don't Know If My Sons Arm Is Just Sore or Broken

Like all of us busy mommies I was cleaning up putting the toys away and putting my boys to sleep. I have a four year old and a oboe year old and the oldest went straight to bed. My youngest was following me around and like most of us we have to carry our children around when we have our hands full. So I had pillows in one hand and picked my son up with my other and I picked him up by his arm pit and now sad to say wothout crying my son doesn't want to move his arm. I still breastfeed him so when I switch him over to the arm the hurts he cries for an it and goes back to sleep. What should I do? He's a wild child always chasing after his brother and falling down and bumping himself it's nothing new to him but now his arm just hangs when I hold him

What can I do next?

I would rather be safe then sorry and take him into see the doc. A quick examination will determine if it's broken or just sore. Hope he's ok!

If I thought for 1 second that my child was injured in some way I would be at my Dr.'s office and not online asking for potential diagnosis.

GO to your pedi or an Urgent Care and have the child checked for goodness sakes. OBVIOUSLY something is WRONG!!!

For future reference, do not pick up an child by the arm pit.

B.,

Welcome to mamapedia.

I would take my son to an Urgent Care to have his arm examined. It sounds like it might be dislocated or a torn rotator cuff.

Good luck.

P.S. have your kids pick up their toys.

If there's any real concern - you'd be at the emergency by now. When I broke my arm as a kid, my parents didn't question it. I'm guessing it's just sore. I'm not sure how you'd be debating this.
It swells, it doesn't look right, the child would be in pain, etc.
Call if you don't know the signs to look for. If it were me and I thought there was a possibility, I'd take him in.

Get him to an urgent care clinic now. He may have anything from a torn rotator cuff to torn ligaments or tendons or even a torn muscle. I can't believe you've been leaving him to suffer all this time.

Oh my goodness. I sure hope you got off the computer and took this child to the ER to have him assessed. You damaged your son's arm. Why on earth are you asking a group of mothers instead of taking him to the hospital?

You know, we all make mistakes as mothers. Stuff happens. But you had better learn through this that you NEVER pick up or pull a child by the arm. NEVER. And you don't make the excuse that the reason you did it is because he's a wild child.
