I Too Have a Question About Seasonique

I just started taking Seasonique about a week ago. It makes me so sick that I have thrown up a couple times and I have this constant bleh, nausea feeling all day everyday. Kinda like when I am pregnant. Has it affected anyone else this way and is that normal for that to be a side effect of birth control?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well, I have been taking it at night since I started it so I couldn't change that. They gave me a script for Fenergen so I take that at night and that handles my nausea. It was so bad that I was vomitting. The nausea was all day everyday, never a break. Even interuppting my sleep. So thank you all for your help. I really appreciate it.

I started out taking the seasonal but because of the bleeding between periods my doctor switched me to Seasonique. Yes in the beginning I had some problems with nausea so I started to take it at night before I went to bed and the problem went away. I guess I just started to sleep through the nausea. Give it a try it may work for you. I have been taking it for almost a year now and I love it.
Also I asked my doctor what the difference was and he said that the seasonique has more hormones then the seasonal and normal birth control.

Hi there A. :)

I do not know about Seasonique, but do take Yasmin and I like it. It is a lower dose of hormones.

Also, big hugs for your lost child. My heart goes out to you.

Think about what you're saying. You are nauseous because you are taking hormones.. Either way it isn't good. Taking another pill to cure the nausea is just adding to the problem. I used to be on Seasonique until one day i felt horrible cramps. I had to walk around and breathe like i was in labor or something. Then i felt the need to push and a clot bigger than my hand escaped my body. That was the end of seasonique! That was after taking it for 2 months. Your body is rejecting it for a reason.

I have been taking Seasonique for two months now and the first month was terrible. I don't have nausea now unless i forget to take a pill and have to double up. I was having horrible hormone headaches two weeks out of the month and i have not had one since i have been on this pill. I love it!

Yes, it's normal, especially at first taking it. Scroll down to "Symptoms" on this facts page. It suggests talking to your Dr. if you experiance nausea/vomitting.

Hi A.. Yes, that's a very standard complaint with birth control. It is the hormones that cause the nausea. I have worked in the OBGYN field for a few years and it is common to hear women say that. If it gets to be too much you can talk to your OB about trying a different pill or having him give you an Rx for the nausea. Good luck.

I have been on it for nine months now. I had cramping and spotting that I had not had in the past. It took my body about 6 months to adjust but I love it. My doctor said that it would take awhile for my body to get use to it but that he would change my pill to something else if I didn't want to wait. If your symptoms are severe and you don't want to keep dealing with it until your body adjusts, I'd change to a different pill.
