So here is an update. I called my doctor yesterday and left a message about calling me in a new prescription. Usually the nurse who works with him is really good about doing this. Well yesterday she was not in and the nurse who was filling in for her told me I need to stay on seaonale for another month to finish out the pack and If I still have concerns then they will think about changing it. I mean I dont think they can refuse a patients request to change to a different medication because one is not working. This is the same nurse who told me before when I called before that the reason I was bleeding is i might be pregnant. Got me all scared for nothing. I decided to wait until my doctor regular nurse gets back because she is more understanding. She has told me before that if I want to change just give them A call. So FUSTRATING. I mean where does this nurse come from telling me I need to stay on the pill for another month. two months of bleeding is enough for me. forget about haveing my period 4 times a year I already have enough to not have on for 2 years hahaha
Right now I am on the generic of seasonal birth control have been on it for about 6 or 7 weeks. It is suppose to be 3 months of active pills and a week of placbos. You are not suppose to get your period for three months which is why I choose. (while after trying the birth control ring which didnt work for me) Anyway since I have been on the pill I have (sorry to be so graphic)bleed more days then I have not. The first two weeks was good since then I have been bleeding anywhere from spotting to moderate flow. There will be a day here and there where I am not bleeding. Its quite annoying and my sex life is almost no existant go figure. I have called my doctor about this and the nurse said its just my body getting use to the pill. Have anyone else tried this birth control? I can not do low dose bc because i spot on those. I just dont want to jump from bc to bc. Is there anything yall will recommend.
First I want to thank everyone for thier advice it was all very helpful. After serious thinking I have stop taking seasonal and have change back to the patch. I know there can be some serious side effects from the patch but all birth control have side effects. I was on the patch before I got pregnant and got off because i didnt have insurance to pay for it and was a broke college student. Anyway since I have been on the patch my sex drive have return (it was welcome back with open arms from my fiance LOL) and the bleeding have stop. I know I will get my period every month I can deal with a regular period just not month long ones.
I havn't tried that , but the same thing happened to me with Depo. I bleed for the majority of the time I was on it. I Have an IUD that I really like.
same exact thing happened to me. My Dr. switched me to the 7/7/7 pills.
Hi. I have never tried the seasonal birth control, but when I was on Depo I bled all the time. The doctors told me the same thing. That it was just my body getting used to the shot. Well long story short after 1 1/2 years of being on it I was still bleeding. The doctor suggested that I get off of it, try something else, and then get back on it. Well I did that and went to the ring which worked fine for me. Then following doctor's orders I got back on the shot and of course the bleeding started again, and this time I gained 20lbs. My suggestion would be to try something else.
Sounds like you need something else!! Yes, it can take up to a month for our bodies to get used to a BCP but is sounds like this generic has yours totally out of wack. I know a lot of people say YAZ is a good one to try. I'm thinking about it myself since I'm taking some time off the pill right now. Oh, and a lot of people don't know this-make sure your BCP is high in testosterone!! Without that in it then our sex drives plummet as well!!

I was on Seasonal for about a year and had some of the same issues although yours sounds worse. After my fourth child, my doctor switched me to Seasonique (same type, take for three months) and it's worked much better for me.
I haven't tried sesonal birth control, but am taking Lybrel. It stops your period completely. I had a lot of spotting the first 3-4 months, but am loving it now. I haven't had any spotting in over 4 months. I think you should consider giving it more time.
I was just taken off of this pill for having the same problem you are having. I was told, in the beginning, that it was my body trying to adjust. After dealing with the "adjustment" for almost 10 months, I just could not agree with the doc/nurse anymore. I came off the pill and my plumbing straightened itself out completely within 7 days. I was also taking the generic Seasonale.
I have not tried that kind, but I really like my IUD.
I have been on those before and am starting them again on Sunday (different brand this time). The first time I was one them I did spot for weeks. After the first round of pills (3 months) my body got used to them. I would only have occasional break through bleeding. If you can wait it out, it will be nice only having a period every three months. Also, the seasonique (same idea, different drug company) puts hormones in the off week pills. That could help with heavy flow. Ask your doctor. Hope this help.
yes, I've been on seasonal for about 4 yrs. the nurse is correct it is just your body getting use the pills. i still have spotting now but it's only when it's about time for my peroid to come on. and once your body gets use to the pills it is wonderful.
I tried Seasonale cause I thought it would be awesome to only have 4 periods a year. I did ok for a while - still had something every month and then when I was almost a year into it, I had a period that lasted almost 2 1/2 months. I finally went to the doctor and she said the hormones had been thrown out of whack. That was a little over a year ago and I am back on a monthly pill again. My hormones are sort of back on track, but it was a mess for a long time. Needless to say, I DO NOT recommend you stay on them!!
my sister had the same problem with seasonal..she was on it for about a year with breakthrough bleeding pretty much constantly. she had to stop taking it and switched to something else. have you tried Ortho Tri Cyclen? that seems to have worked for several people i know. good luck!
I have been on Seasonale for the past 4 years. While I do not take the pill for the same purpose as most - that of birth control - I did have some crazy spotting during the first 3 months. After that I will only occasionally spot in the middle of the pack (after a month and a half). I have only taken the generic Jolessa for a grand total of a month. It did not do what the Seasonale does for me (mood regulation). Like some of the other responders, I have previously had an IUD and tried the Depo shot. Depo made me crazy, and I had countless pelvic infections from the IUD (my body would not accept it). If you can put up with the craziness with the bleeding long enough to complete the first 3 months, and your body actually does adjust - you should love it. Just remember that every body reacts to these things differently. Some times if I miss a pill or two that causes me to spot, I will go off for the rest of the week and let my body breathe, then I start up again and am fine for a good while, with no spotting at all.
I have been on both seasonale and seasonique i switched to the seasonique b/c i get samples at my office... I love them both i unlike you did have any break though bleeding that goodness but i don't think it is normal to still be breaking though at the 6-7 week period. I would call my dr back. Seasonale is suppose to have something in it also to help w/your sex drive (responding to one of the other responses) according the drug rep.that beings them to us. I hope things get better for u though... I love the fact of only 4 period a year!!! Sorry i didn't really have any advise but i hope things work out!
