My son is 20 months old and 34 lbs. He is also very tall. I have just moved him into size 7 pampers diapers. I was going to start to try to potty train him soon since I am unaware of any bigger diapers. I don't think he's ready yet but I don't know what else to do. He still urinates a lot so pull ups won't work. Please let me know if anyone knows of larger diapers.
This is the first time I ever posted anything on the internet. The response is overwhelming. Thank you so much for all of the advice! I have many options now and I thank everyone.

I don't think that they make diapers any bigger than the size 7. However, you would be amazed at how much the pull ups can hold. My son has been in pull ups since he was 20 months old. I put the nighttime ones on for bedtime. He's now 3 years old. Not quite potty trained yet, but only wears the pull ups for bed or if we go somewhere.

My son is 4 and he is wearing Huggies Pull-Ups Training Pants with Learning Designs, 3T-4T (32-40 lbs), Cars, Mega , 40 training pants, they also have 4t-5T. My son thinks there is sharks in the toilet so he has been wearing them for about a year and they work just a good as a diaper.
good luck to you

My son is 4 and still not potty trained. He is 42 pounds and 42 inches tall. We use Luvs size 6 or Huggies size 6. We quit using Pampers awhile back for him because they leaked. Huggies worked better and thankfully he had outgrown whatever allergy he used to have to them. I would try Luvs first. They are way cheaper than goodnights or pullups. Goodluck!

Goodnights. I think they start at about the weight your son is at they are meant as overnight diapers for bedwetters so they hold alot. I think they migh be pricey to use day and night but I am really not sure about that. I also believe I have seen them for sale at the wholesale clubs. I really don't think you should push the potty training early. It sounds like he is wetting alot still and I am always a little on the over cautious side of this battle. My inlaws had a bed wetter for many years because they feel they pushed too early. You do not want that. I wish you the best of luck. At his size, you may have a pro athlete on your hands in a few years! :-)

My children have always been big children, and huggies always worked the best for me, I think they make them bigger than pampers for sure. I would never encourage trying to potty train when they are not ready. Some ppl think, you can train any time, I personally think it is not worth fighting. Pull-ups to me have never worked as well, so I never encourage them, especially since there are so little of them for more money. Good luck.

That is the same issues that I ran into with my youngest when he was that old. He was in the biggest size diaper, but he would flood those every time he went..soaking everything. I did go to pull ups because there was no bigger size. I was also trying to potty train him, but he was fighting me tooth and nail on the issue. He wanted to be a baby, not a big boy. I tried the cool pull ups but he actually enjoyed those and they did not work. What worked to get him off pull ups and diapers was telling him directly that this was the last bag of pull ups that I was buying, so it was his choice to be wet or not. That worked and he is even dry at night.
Note: there are bigger diapers out there. They make diapers for mentally/physically challenged people. But they are not bought off the shelf in a store. They have to be special ordered.

I don't know if it would work for you but have you thought of cloth diapering? We use Fuzzi Bunz and they are wonderful!

Pampers has "easy ups" which are geared to be step 1 in the transition to potty training and are very absorbent and are sized larger, I think to 4T.

You might try the overnight pullups - they are extra absorbant and larger. I had the same issue with my boys and these helped (although we still had some leaks sometimes).

I have a daughter unable to potty train due to apecial needs. She is 9 yrs. old and 62 pounds. She wears Good Nights brand underpants that are just lilke pull-ups. THey works both day and night with little leaking. If your son isn't ready to potty train, maybe having the experience of pulling up "big boy" pants/diapers would encourage hime without putting pressure on him.

Hi! I have the same problem. My daughter is 2 1/4. She weighs around 34-35 lbs and she wears a size 5 in clothing. The only diapers I have found that work are the Goodnites? Have you tried them? I hope that helps some?

You might have to move up and get the Depends for adults. They make tiny ones that fit my son(at 10 months with the aid of some rubber bands) when we were in a bind and that was all that we had at home.
Good luck though! My son is 18 months and not ready to potty train. Don't push him into it because it will be more a hastle to you.

If possible I would switch to cloth diapers or trainers. Pocket diapers are super absorbent and you can enhance the nighttime absorbency by putting an extra insert in. Same way with cloth trainers. Here's a link to a company that sell pocket diapers in your son's size and also pocket trainers. http://www.happyheinys.com/products.php

I've noticed that Pampers run smaller than Target brand diapers, which is what I buy. My daughter wears a size 3 Target but a size 4 Pampers.

I have found the Huggies Goodnites underpants to be very absorbent for larger toddlers. They come in both girls and boys styles and are great for overnight protection or extended daytime protection. My daughter is 3 years old, 40 inches tall and 48 pounds. She sleeps for 12 hours at night and produces a lot of urine in that time and the Goodnites keep her dry and comfortable. I've occasionally used them during the day instead of a pullup and they last a good 10 to 12 hours without leaking.

Pull ups will probably be your best bet unless you look into getting the diapers they have for seniors. My daughter is 11 and is terminally ill and had to wear diapers from time to time in the past few months. The pull ups were the best thing for her, and they also hold alot. The weight on the pull ups is very high as well. Try them what do you have to lose.

There used to be a product called Good Nights (or Good Nites) which come in larger sizes. Check out Wal-mart. Target or the grocery store. I had a friend who's son was having trouble with dry nights til he was like 7-8 years old and he wore them at night. Good Luck!

I don't think I know of any bigger-sized diapers but I know that they do sell inserts similar to maxi pads. I only know this because my girlfriend used them with her son when she was training him, and he would wet through his overnight diaper.
I know it's tough, but I think that given your son's large size, you almost have no choice but to begin potty-training. He may seem young and not ready, but there are studies that show that you can train kids as soon as they are able to sit up on their own. I have a friend whose 2 kids were both fully trained by the time they were 18 months. Good luck!

Have you tried Depends. I know they have them in small sizes and are just like pull ups. I would also try finding a website under diapers or call the Pampers people. Maybe they could help you find some larger sizes.

have you looked into cloth? there are toddler sized prefolds, and some of the diaper brands have XL size. my son was 30 lbs at 11 months, and the size L Bumkins fit him until he was around 40 lbs, at which point we didn't need them anymore. he was wider than he was tall, so the L fit him longer than the listed weight range for them.
feel free to PM me if you have any questions about cloth. :)

I sympathize with you. When my kids were babies my son was a BIG boy and i used to put kotex in his diapers ,(ha ha ,he didn't know) any way it helped to hold his flow 'till I did potty train him. Your son sounds like he's ready. I used gummie bears or something he wanted that was on the healthy side and reward the doll (as an example) so he could see that the doll received a reward for going in the potty. Wish you the best! Hi B.,
My son is 3 1/2 and weighs 40 pounds. He is fully potty trained by day, but we use pampers easy ups at night. If I run out of those, I have used size 6 pampers baby dries and he still fits into those fine.

Hi,
My son is 3 and weighs 42 lbs., is 40 inches tall, and only wears the Pampers Cruisers size 6...he's at the 97% mark on the growth chart, so he's big, just like your son. We've tried about every diaper out there, and for us, the Pampers Cruisers are the most absorbent. Skip the pull-up type diapers until he gets older because they are made smaller than a regular diaper, and yes, they're less absorbent. Others have mentioned Goodnights, which might be a good alternative. We use Pampers Easy Ups during the day and Cruisers at night. Yes, size 7 is the largest standard diaper they make. The size 7 Cruisers should work for your son for quite a few months...my son's been in the size 6 ones for quite a while. Good luck!
