I Need a Real, Bona Fide Cheesesteak...

Tony Luc's is pretty good - it was better a few years ago. Pat's and Geno's is where all the tourists go. Big rivalry, supposedly, but the truth is, the families are super good friends. Cheesesteaks themselves are kinda whatever. My son recently went to Reading Terminal Market for a field trip and had the "best cheesesteak of my life" (his words). And praise from him is extremely hard to come by. I think if you find a good pizza place, you'll probably find a pretty good cheesesteak. Personally, I'm happy that my local pizza place out here in the 'burbs ranked as having one of the best cheesesteaks around.

Some may say Pat's or Geno's which are both in South Philly. I have tried both and I don't really see what all the whoopla is about either of them. Truthfully, I usually make my own using the frozen Steak ums you can find at any supermarket. I use fresh Italian rolls and put all the toppings including cheese from the deli. I don't use cheez wiz like Pat's or Geno and frankly mine taste better. But if you don't have time to make it yourself usually any corner steak shop makes them and are usually good. That's just my opinion. Hope this helps.

Pats and Geno's (across the street from each other) are supposed to be the best. I have never tried. Tony Lukes is also good. I dont have to go too far.... most of the local pizza shops make really good cheesesteaks. (so i am not much help...lol)

I will talk to my former MIL and I will see which one is it. When I went there to visit they took me to a hole in the wall and it was TOTALLY delish!!!
