I Need a Car!

COngrats on committing to the total money makeover- my husband and I did and I have never felt so much peace about finaces! On Ransey's show they often reccommend an internet based person to find and purchase the car through- but for the life of me I can't think of the website! I will pay attention and email you if I remember or hear it on the radio this week. One place to check is Craigslist, but bring someone car savvy with you when you check out whatever car you are interested in. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful!

Hi B., first I would like to say kudos to you for getting on board with Dave Ramsey, I love his radio program. As far as finding a car I would recommend look on the internet at autotrader.com or a similar site. They have search engines that you can type in specifics like the amount of money you would like to pay, etc. Good Luck with the car and the total money makeover!

I wish we were selling our car, because I would gladly sell it to a common total money makeover person. My husband and I are also on the plan and will be debt free in 4-6 months; the plan has been an unbelievable blessing for us, and we are so excited about what our financial future holds (how many people can truly say that!!!) So my post is simply to say congratulations and to encourage you to stick with it no matter what! (FYI- our initial calculations told us we would not be out of debt in 5-7 years; however, we will be debt free in almost exactly 2 years, and that's INCLUDING having another baby, baby later getting sick and being in hospital for a week, buying a nice used car, and some other various larger expenses-all paid for with cash- during this 2 year period) God has blessed us and he will you too!

My mom is looking to sell her 97 Ford Explorer Sport for about the much or maybe we can negociate something. Write me back if you might be interested and I can give you all of the info.

I have heard that GMC Leasing in Bedford/Euless has decent deals on used cars. www.gmcleasing.com

I don't know what they have right now, but they usually have a good inventory.

Have you tried www.craigslist/ I have met many nice people some of whom were willing to hold the item for a week for us to get it . They may allow you to pay in installments! Telling a little about yourself in the email is good.

You will find your car! I am so proud that you all are working on your finances. We have been debt free for over 8 years on one income and no income when my husband lost his job many times.
We rented out a bedroom once and shared expenses another time.
We have a small house , but we did it!
Now we have a modest savings! Our finances do not make sense on paper, but somehow we make it. We have asked car repair men to allow us to pay our bills a little at a time and they did!
"With God all things are possible!"
We paid $1,000 for our last car , 1993. WWe have had it several years.
