Hi L.,
I had a Vaginal Hysterectomy done and I dont regret it. I have always had female problems, had my right falopian tube and my right ovary removed when I was 24 yrs old. Then when I was 32 my left fallopian tube was removed. Kept having problems and was always in pain, sex about killed me and I was having bleeding problems too. They finally removed everything when I was 38. No regrets other than I wish I still had my ovary so I wouldnt have early menapause. They can do your hysterectomy vaginally and leave your ovairies so you dont go thru early menapause. Also get a second opinon. My doctor has been in Las Vegas for 25 years and is the best. His name is Dr.Stephen Montoya ###-###-####. He is also Hyspanic ( I am not) and if anything can at least give you a second opinion. I know it sounds scary as I was scared too. My doctor told me for 4 years that I needed one but I wanted to have kids. He never pushed it and always supported my decisions, even when it didnt agree with his medical opinion. After the hysterectomy I wished I had gotten it sooner. I never did get pregnat but did adopt 2 children. Dr. Montoya told me after my hysterectomy that he knew that I would never get pregnant but he knew I needed to find that out myself ( went threw IVF to try and get pregnant and that didnt work either). So if you dont want any more kids you dont need your uterus. If your dealing with a mass it needs to be removed either with a hysterecomy or removing the mass. Ask your doctor if they can do the hysterectomy vaginally which means they go thru your vagina and remove your urterus with out cutting you open from hip bone to hip bone. Additionally ask about keeping your ovaries even if it's just one. One ovary will produce the same amount of hormones as 2.
Whatever the outcome it will be alright.
Hope this helps and good luck
