Has anyone tried hypnotism for weight loss and have you had any success with it - both short term and long term success?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I agree that the best way to lose weight is with proper diet and regular exercise. I'm a lifetime member of Weight Watchers and thoroughly believe in their programs. I was just curious as to whether anyone had tried hypnosis and what kind of experience they had with it. I'm hoping in my life time that someone will invent a pill that you can take once a day that provides all of the nutrients you need, you no longer have to eat any foods, and you feel satisfied. Perhaps the pills could come in flavors - fried chicken, chocolate, etc. :)

I'm a hypnotist, and when I first started working with weight loss clients, I noticed that I was losing weight as well. I dropped from a size 18 (even a few 20's in there) to a size 10 (and a dress pant of 8!) without even trying.

My method may be a little different then others. I focus on listening to your body, knowing that your body knows what it needs. I naturally "craved" the foods I needed and suddenly didn't like foods that my body didn't need. As the weight dropped, I became more active. My personality is not the type to do a regular excercise program, but I am the type to find active things to do like gardening, going dancing with friends, ect.

I have kept the weight off for 3 years now. A few weeks ago, I gave birth to my beautiful little girl and I'm dropping the baby weight very quickly (no dieting since I'm breast-feeding). I know that I will be back to pre-pregnancy weight easily and quickly.

Let me know if I can answer any questions about hypnosis. Its very simple and makes a lot of sense once you understand what it is and what it's not.

I did hypnotherapy and it really didn't work... After years of looking for the quick, I've come to learn that good ol exercise is the key ingredient.. at least for me.... While the hypnotherapy did help me relax, in order to keep that up, you really have to work hard at it all the time... now, if hypnotherapy can get you on that track, then ok why not.. but beware.. unlike what they show on t.v. often people need way more than just one session.. and those sessions add up.... depending where you live.. I have paid about $100 a pop... which to me, that is money that can be spent at a gym....

whatever you decide, best of luck

I did when I was a child (yes, I was in 6th grade) I lost weight but, it did not stay off for long. I would go once a week for about 8 weeks. I'm sure it would work better for an adult but, only one on one hypnotism because group sessions are a waste of money. Even over 25 years ago it was expensive. My mom had taken me because she had short term sucess when she went to quit smoking.

I have not known anyone who had any success with hynotism either for weight loss or to quit smoking.
I'm not saying hypnosis can't work, but I do think that a person has to be open to make certain changes for themselves before something like that will work.
That's just my opinion.
I wouldn't even have answered this question except for that fact that I know people who have spent very good money, and lots of it, but still didn't change their habits.
I think it's possible to be used as a tool in some cases, but not a cure.

I'm interested to see your responses.
