Alright, here I go again. My husbands birthday is coming up and I do have anything planned. He is not a big party person, plus your birthday gets put on the back burner when you have children :) I am wondering if there was anything other moms did that was different for their husbands birthday? I figured we could have a BBQ or something but I wanted to see what others have done for their hubbys! My husband works hard and long hours so I want to plan something..... Any ideas would be great! Some gift ideas as well please....

What can I do next?

I planned a surprise party for my husbands birthday a couple years ago and it was one of his favorite birthdays. I arranged to have one of his friends over early that day and he took my husband to a couple stores with him to help him (his friend) look for something he was considering buying...well this was just a stall to be able to get the rest of his friends and family at our house and get the house decorated, I had everyone park away from our house so he had no idea anyone was here when he got back. He was so surprised and he loved it!! We played games (he's a big xbox fan) and I just let him do whatever he wanted that day while I took care of our son. So we just had games and food all day. Maybe you could do something like that if your husband is a games, fun person. =) Hope that helps alittle. Good luck!

One year I had all my husband's friends over for dinner. It was really informal, and we requested no gifts, just the gift of friendship. He loved it. I was able to pull it off as a surprise by telling him that our best friends were coming for dinner. That way he expected company, just not the 25 other people who came. It was a great night.

This year I surprised him with tickets to his favorite team when they were in town visiting (he's not from here). This time it was a family affair, but I've also done it as a date and taken care of babysitting. This year it was a great surprise as he expected to be out of town on business. I knew it was a flexible trip, so I just talked to those who needed to know, and they worked with me on it until he knew.

Have fun planning!

My dh isn't a party person either. Sometimes I have gone ahead anyway lol. I think his favorite birthday since we've been married though was one where it was just us, but I sent him an invitation to his birthday. I made his favorite food and dessert (he's not a cake guy either lol) and gave him a gift I knew he had been wanting. He felt really loved and special because he knew I had thought about him and what he loved and wanted. I ended the night for him by giving him a massage, he works hard hours too and we all love that. I just pampered him.

I don't know if you have any plays or comedy stages around, but one year a group of my friends arranged a surprise party for me that involved everyone showing up at a local stage production (a melodrama, saloon stage type place). It was so fun to have a surprise party in a different location, then watch a play after. Loved it!!!

As for gifts ideas, I recommend something intimate from a specialty shop, or if your husband is a reader try a fun book series. If you want book ideas, let me know. I have lots of suggestions.
