How to Stop Late Night Feedings?

I have an 8 month old daughter, Lane. Lany was a big time paci user until a littl over a month ago when we took it away. She was waking up everytime it fell out of her mouth. Well, she is doing beautifully except she still wakes up around 3-4am for a bottle. She has a bedtime bottle @ 7-7:15pm. Her Pedi says she should be sleeping all night and physically is capable of going all night without eating.. my question to you ladies is this: How do I stop giving them to her? Unfortunately she and my oldest daughter share a room, and letting her cry it out isn't an option. Or, should I keep giving her that late night bottle and give it some more time and see if she eventually stop taking it?

What can I do next?

A., I HAVE TO AGREE WITH THE OTHER MOMS. SHE IS WAKING BECAUSE SHE IS HUNGRY. FEEDING HER AT 7PM IS TO EARLY FOR HER TO SLEEP ALL NIGHT. MY CHIKDREN STARTING SLEEPING THRU THE NIGHT AT 2 MTHS BUT THEIR LAST FEEDING WAS AT 10:30PM, TRY FEEDING HER LATER BUT DON'T SKIP STRAIGHT TO 10PM SCOOT IT BACK SLOWLY, LIKE MAYBE START FEEDING HER AT 7:45PM AND THEN AFTER ABOUT A WEEK SCOOT IT BACK ANOTHER 30MIN.S HOPE THIS HELPS.A.

I would say try giving one more botttle before you go to bed. I always did a 11 bottle. Then slowly moved the time back by 15 min. every night untill it was where I wanted it. Both of mine needed lots of prompting to sleep all night.
If Lany is eating at
3 or 4 that means she is going a 8 or 9 hour stretch...not bad at all. You could reverse this and feed her late at night instead of the middle of the night so her 8-9 hours is why you are sleeping as well.

My 3 year old twins started sleeping through the night at about 6 months. However, my 21 month old didn't sleep through the night until he was 11 months old. He was hungry. I would try backing up her bedtime just a little bit, perhaps 15-30 minutes and see what happens. I think if you back it up much more you may end up with a very unhappy baby. Sometimes if my boys got overtired they didn't sleep very well at all. Now my 21 month old sleeps 12-14 hours a night and takes a 2-3 hour nap in the day. He is a pro!

I have 2 that are close together so I understand.
My oldest is 3 now and my youngest 1 1/2.

I was lucky and had babies that slept through the night,
but it took some time to get there.
They had a Midnight feeding and would go through the night.
Then we were able to give her last feeding at 9pm,
and she now sleeps though the night.

If I try any earlier she too will get up in
the middle of the night but she is up to play,
when she has a earlier bedtime. Geting up at 3am to play for 2 hours, then she go back to bed.

So now she stays up till 9 and she lays right down and goes to sleep no problem.

Thats what worked for her, maybe this will help.

Good luck.

Hi A.,

I have a 2 kids, my daughter gave me the blues with the middle of the night feedings until she was about 4 months, but an older wiser aunt told me the best secret yet, and now my 5 month old son has been sleeping thru the night since he was about 5 or 6 weeks.

I do feed him at around 9 or 10 at night, but right before i do, i give him a nice warm bath. I let him sit there for about 10 minutes and play ( kicking at the water and talking to him, my precious time) before i wash him up, then after he gets out, Ii rub him down really good, then i feed him a nice warm bottle with cereal. I have gotten more rest with this kid, then my daughter, which by the way i do the same for her, except i let her eat first ( 1 1/2 yr olds eat really messy..LOL ) then i let her take a bath, she sits about 20 minutes before i wash her, i let her play in the water, then wash her up. rub her down with the baby lotion and by the time i finish putting on her PJ's she is ready to go to sleep herself and gets in the bed on her own. try it out just one night, and see if this method works for you.

PS, the only downfall is, since you are a stay at home mom, Lany might wake up at the crack of dawn (lol), but if you get her another warm cereal bottle whe she first wakes up, she should go back to sleep after about a couple of minutes of play time. I pray for you some rest, the LORD knows we all need it, no matter how many kids we have. Good Luck !!!

I.

A.,

I hate to say, but the only way to break her from it is to stop. I would just hold her at that time to get her back to sleep. She may be doing it for comfort. Eventually she will learn to sleep during that time. Stay consistent, babies learn early as you know. I hope this helps.
