I got a 2t costume for my dd who is 3 it is t-t, the dress is way too short, I was thinking about putting black leggings or something under it but wouldn't look right well maybe it would. Then I got a3t 4t costume thinking it would be too large, it fits great could possibly even fit next year.

Any advise for when I go after h-ween has passed for what size to get?

Thanks.

I also save all the costumes do you?

What can I do next?

I would expect the kids to wear the next size group up. Like if they were 2 now and you got a size 2-4. Then next year I would get a 4-6, that way it should be just right. Kids grow a LOT between ages 2-4 though and then again around the time they start Kindergarten. Then again around age 7-8.

They should stay true to their size style though...if they are petite for their age they should probably stay in the petite range next year and not jump 2-3 sizes, same if the run on the larger side of the age group, our boy is a bit larger, I know I he is wearing a size 4 pant right now and a 5 might fit him next year in length. So I will buy him some Spring pants in size 5 but I will most likely plan on size 6's for late summer and early Fall. He is narrow in the hips so I know he can wear size 4 and 5 shorts for most of the Spring and Summer. It is an easy guess for me because he has been right where I expected him to be each time I buy in advance.

I always shop the sale and but pretend play clothes for the kids to use all the time. I bought about 5 of the pettiskirts in various colors last year and she wore the teal one today to school over multicolored leggings with a cute top. They have multi purposes.

I've never done it, but I am going to try this year. My friend said she always gets two sizes up. She said if its a too big, because most of them are polyester you can wash it in warm (not hot) water and it will shrink up a bit.
So I am going to try and get two sizes bigger and see if it works for next year lol.

I buy costumes one size up. My daughter is a 4T-5T and I got her costume for this year in a kids S (4-6).
I find that many costumes (especially dresses) run a bit small and I also want to account for her wearing a few layers underneath.
I don't actually "save" the costumes, but I place them in my daughter's "dress-up" chest, so she will play dress up with them (until they fall apart).

I always buy one size larger just in case I have to layer clothes underneath if it's cold. We don't "save" costumes, per se, but my kids will wear their costumes until they are tattered.

My crystal ball does not work well.... Some years I have done well, others, not so much. :)
I would go with the thought that a little too big fits so much better than a little too small! (And, if you need layers, that is a must!)
We do keep ours in the dress up box - and they are worn on a regular basis until they are worn out, or too small.

I never thought to but in advance, I guess b/c I can't bank on what he will want to be by next year. I also don't put them up. After Halloween it's free game for dress up clothes. May as well get some use out of it! So, I guess after Halloween I'll be dealing with a constant devil. :-)

I always go bigger than what I think she would be wearing. You can stuff clothes under it to keep her warm and it can possibly fit again another year.
