Hello,
I just bought my daughter a new pair of jeans, and when I went to remove the size, etc. stickers from the pant-leg, the adhesive/sticky part remained on the jeans. Any ideas on how to remove this?? Advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!!

What can I do next?

We have had that happen a few times - I used...

DUCK TAPE

...just make a circle out of the tape (sticky side OUT) then kind of ROLL it over and over til the sticky is gone! I have had to use it again after I washed the items a couple times - but it works!

Washing has always gotten rid of it for me...if it doesn't work, get some GooGone. It's orange-based, so it won't hurt the fabric or dyes and it cuts through grease and goo easily.

Saturate the spot with Goo Gone (found around household cleaners)let it set for a minute or two, and brush it, possibly it may need a second time.

My mom used rubbing alcohol, not much, just put some on a washcloth and rub.
It always works.

Hello J.. I agree with Shaun. Just take the jeans back and get a new pair, save yourself the hassel of trying to get the gunk off. If the next pair have gunk on them too you could try GooBeGone (sp), but I must tell you I have never tried it on clothes before, so I don't know if it would harm the pants.

You can always put your jeans in the freezer overnight. When you pull them out the next morning, the adhesive will just come off. This also works great if you get gum in your clothes.

I'd just return them to the store. Tell them what happened, show them the pants and they should replace them for you. It would just be an even exchange, so I don't know why it would be a problem. If you have the receipt or any tags, make sure you take them with you. You can always call ahead to double check their return policy or to speak to a manager.

I know what a pain that is!!! I usually put them in the freezer over night and it just brushes off in the morning. If you don't have a large freezer this won't work so try putting an ice in a plastic bag and laying it on the area for a couple of hours, should have the same effect.

Hi J.,

I'd try the freezing first, then I'd go with the Goo Gone, or else Lestoil. Wash in hottest water that's safe for the fabric and Don't put it in the dryer until you are sure the sticky stuff is gone. Might take a couple times.

Good luck! BTW I loved your description where you said that hubby is still alive after 11 years! ROTFLOL!

Those things happen and I keep a bottle of Basic H 2 from Shaklee on hand. (all organic, non toxic and bio-degradable.) It has over 1000 uses and it works. I would never be without it. You can check it out at www.getcleangogreen.us . All of their cleaning products are highly concentrated so a little bit goes a long way.
Good luck! (by the way, peanut butter on clothing will leave a greasy stain. ;-)

If returning them doesn't work, you could always try peanut butter. I have heard that that often works. I haven't tried it on clothes, but it has worked for other things.
Good luck!

Goo Gone, Lestoil, and Peanut Butter are all oil based or petroleum based products and may leave a residue. WD-40 may work as well, but is the same way. Dawn dish soap will remove the residue. After you use one of the others and remove the adhesive, rub a little Dawn into the area with an old toothbrush, then put them in the washer. The Dawn will remove any smell associated with the others as well.
