This September, my husband and I will celebrate our 20th aniversary! We planned to do something special since we never got a honeymoon... but, we've had several unexpected medical bills, so we're going to have to do it on a smaller budget. We live in Ohio, and I'd like to stay within a few hours drive. Do you smart ladies have any good ideas for us?

Thanks!
P.

If you just want to celebrate each others company, you don't need to go out of town, and waste money. You could go somewhere that you went when you first met, or plan a personal day with a couples massage, dinner, and "desert". There is a dinner theater in Springboro called La Comedia. I've gone several times for special events, and it's such a fun night. If you want to involve children, we LOVE The Great Wolf Lodge. It's really a great family place. There are dinner boats downtown also.

If you must leave and get away for a while, you could go to Puttin Bay (above Cleveland), or Chicago (5 hours).

Don't know where lebanon is lol. But my son goes to camp christopher in bath ohio every summer. Last year we picked him up and drove on to new york and spent a couple days by niagra falls. it was wonderful. to get into the actual falls is free only pay for parking. there are attractions there that can cost a bit but I think for the 3 of us we spend $100 and it gave us a couple days worth of stuff to do. we stayed ina cheapie hotel. we ate dinner in a restaurant there at niagra falls and had a view of the falls during dinner. it was really nice.

We are going to Gatlinburg TN in a couple week and staying for 6 nights. I found a cheap but nice hotel through priceline . com for 250 for the week. It is a bit of a drive, 5 hours, but its so nice down there. I figure about 100 in gas. There are lovely things to do there in the spring and fall, we went in the fall of 08 and it was so pretty! (but a bit chilly) We are on a VERY tight budget but there are lots of things that are 10$ or less to do there, lots of free things too! You can always eat at chains which will be cheaper no matter where you go. I would check priceline for hotels and then check the hotels website, I neglected to do that myself and I probably could have gotten and even better deal since the hotels website had the same price in this case. Happy Anniversary!! Wonderful to see people stay together!

I don't know how far lebenon oh is from detroit but get a nice room at one of the casino(greektown because there rooms are usually cheaper) and the earlier you book the cheaper it is! We have nice muesums here and the henry for muesum and greenfield village is nice( in dearborn michigan about 15 min. out side of detroit) i usually get coupons for ythe rooms that I never use so if you decided to come up here and want the coupons you are more than welcome to have them. the muesumsare that that expensive and neither are greenfield viilage and we usually have festivals going on that time of year also.the ones at hart plaza are free so what better then that! good luck! p.s. it's good to dee ppl making it to 20 year anniversaries!
