Reading through Mamapedia questions as a first timer & finding so many helpful answers.

I see "4 moms found this helpful" & want to give my helpful "vote", but don't see any button to do this.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

"Send Flower"?!?! I see that button, but I would never have guessed that meant registering my "helpful" vote. Weird. Thanks for your help! Happy holidays!

Hi C.

There should be a "Send Flower" link after the person's answer - you just click that

You're already gotten your answer that "flower" = "helpful"

You can see any flowers sent by others by going to your account in the upper right corner. Private messages will come to your email.

A lot of new people also ask about the following so maybe this will save you time.

You cannot reply to individual answers on the public page. You can click on the person's name and send her a private message, but reference the individual question or her response rather than just saying "Thanks for your help" because she won't get any kind of link on it. You can correspond back and forth, but there's no way to see all the replies at once as you would with a bunch of emails and replies.

If you want to answer publicly, your only option is to click "Edit my Question" and then say more. Don't - please don't - change the whole question. If you do that, it makes those who've already answered appear to be too hasty, poor readers, clueless or whatever. You let their answers stand with the question "as is" if that makes sense. Just write "ETA" (Edited To Add) at the bottom of the question and put in additional details. That will completely help new responders to give better answers and not keep repeating the same questions for more info as asked by the first few people who replied.

You can also put something in the "So What Happened" section. Some people use that for more details (same as ETA) and others use it to say what the resolution is and what they've already decided, which may tell new responders that your problem is solved.

In either of these, you can write the person's name ("Susan G., I already tried that" and "Rebecca T., that's a great idea" and so forth). But they won't see it unless they come back to read your question again. By the same token, if a responder edits her answer, you won't get an alert on that, so it's a good idea to revisit your question on occasion and scan the older answers to look for an "ETA" addition.

If you see anything questionable, either in a question or a response, please report it directly to the administrators. Even if you're sure it's a troll or a kid (we get more of those during vacation periods when kids are bored!), it's best if the administrators handle it so they can talk to the person, clarify if necessary (some truly innocent people just post awkwardly or poorly) or delete/block the account. And ignore all those "My buddy's aunt makes $68 an hour working from home" posts - they get reported and deleted quickly!

You can see who sent you flowers by going to your account.

Sending a Flower is the Mamapedia equivalent of "Like"ing an answer (similar to a social media "Like"). Also, if you are answering a question, you can say "I agree with (so-and-so)", but he/she might not notice your remarks of agreeement unless you also send a Flower to get their attention that you are writing about their answer.
