How Often Do Your Elementary School Kids Want to Host or Attend a Party?

My dd would love to host or attend a party every week. This is a shock to the system for my dh and myself as we both are reserved people. She's in K. I'm afraid of what I am in for during hs.

So, how often do your elementary school kids want to get together with large groups of friends and family?

What can I do next?

depends on what you consider a party...

My kids consider having two friends over for a sleepover a party.

Since she is in Kindergarten, she's what 5? And I don't know her personally - what does she consider as a party? It makes it hard to answer the question. If your daughter is a social butterfly - then set some rules - she can have 2 people over once a month...

ask what her expectations are -
* what does she expect to do at the party
* how many people and is she serving food?
* Does she realize the cost of hosting a party?

My kids are busy almost every weekend - between Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and friends. Right now I have 4 boys in the family room and everyone is laughing and having fun....for my kids - it's a party!!

Large groups? For me - that's 10 or more people. Those are for birthday parties and other annual events.

Having a couple of friends over to play once a week or so is not a party. Its a play group, or just friends coming over to play. How large of a group are you talking about? A child in Kindergarten doesnt need a "party" every week. A play group or a couple friends is different.
