B.B.
That is not enough. My son is 4 and he goes to bed around 10 and wakes up around 10. I know that sounds nuts to most people but we are night owls.
Mine used to sleep 10 hrs a night at least if not 11, lately 8 or 9 only! Thanks for your responses.

Before she stared school a few weeks ago, she slept about 12 and no naps.
Now she only sleep 10 but many days she takes naps.
My almost 4yo is JUST now sleeping more than 8-9hours at night. Anything under 11 meant 'resting' with mommy in bed in the morning, and/or 'resting' in mommy's bed in the middle of the day. If he gets up before 8am tomorrow morning, he can quietly lay in bed with me for an hour (sometimes he goes back to sleep). Depending on how much more sleep he needs, he'll be allowed to quietly lay in my bed when we get home from the park.
Mine has never done better than 10.5 to 11 hours, no matter how I tried. Under 10 would leave her cranky though.
Mine are 3 and 6 now. 3 year old does best with 12 hours (no nap). 6 year old needs 10 or 11. The little one will sleep in later if she it tired. Older one always is up around 7 even if he is tired (I wish he would sleep in a bit if he needs to).
4.5 yr old, mostly 10-11, sometimes 12.
Mine normally gets 10-12 hours at night, but if he only sleeps 8 or 9 then he normally needs a nap otherwise he becomes overly tired and the poor sleep continues because the serotonin and melatonin levels are out of balance.
I have twins who are four (will be five in a month). They both sleep about 11 hours a night, sometimes only 10. Your four year old might just be going through a phase, but I would still aim for 10-11 hours of sleep if you can. Keep bedtime at the same time and insist on quiet time before sleep and hopefully s/he will get back on track.
minimum of 10 and occasionally up to 12 (my son will be 4 in May ~ he naps at chapel 3 days a week, but not at home).
Our kids, even as babies would go down for the night around 9pm. It just seems to be their natural sleep pattern. We don't fight most times, they lay down with who ever is putting them to bed and they drop right off. There are, of course, times when they are just not tired. That is a different topic. When they are tired they go to sleep.
My 5 yr. old grandson has consistently, with or without a nap, gone to bed around 9pm, dropped off right away, and is always up by 8am with a good chance he'll be up by 7:30am average.
I would say about 10-12. She still sometimes, although it's certainly not everyday, takes a nap. I think she's going through a growth spurt though b/c she's also been eating a ton! ;)
My 4 1/2 year old daughter gets between 10 & 11 hours of sleep a night during the week (because of preschool), and 11-12 on the weekends - with no naps during the day.
my 4 year old son goes to bed at 8pm and is usually asleep with in minutes, lol! He wakes up around 7 or 8am. So around 11-12 hours per night
My little one goes down at 8:30pm and is up at 7:30am Sunday thru Thursday. On the weekends she stays up a little later and sometimes she will stay sleeping for 12 hours. It just depends on if her sisters wake her up or not.
My 4 3/4 year old sleeps 11 hrs a night. Sometimes, when she's overly stimulated and worn out, I'll give her a nap.
My 3 1/2 year old sleeps 12-13 hrs a night.
My son will be 4 in just a month. On the days when he does NOT nap, he sleeps from about 8:30 or 9pm till 8 am...... so about 10 or 11 hours. If your kiddo's only getting 8 or 9 ..... yikes. He needs a nap! Does he go to bed late or get up early?
usually 11 sometimes 12
Mine gets about 11 hours a sleep a night, sometimes 12...naps don't happen every day, but when they do, they are usually 2 hours, and don't affect her nighttime sleep or the time she goes to bed at all.
