My daughter is 9 months old and I still put her down with a bottle. I dont let her have it in her bed but I rock her while feeding her as our bedtime routine. Then I will take a wash cloth and wipe her tiny teeth off. You can even do that with your daughter's gums. I see nothing wrong with having a bottle at bedtime at 7 months of age.

I think it is pretty normal for a 7 m.o. to go down with a bottle. It isn't recommended that you put her in bed with the bottle but a bottle before bedtime is normal, or at least was for my kids. In fact by daughter is almost 2 and still takes a bottle before bedtime (we are having a hard time transitioning to the sippy cup). Otherwise she is up in the middle of the night.

Being that your daughter is/has been sick she needs a little pampering. If you want to try putting her to sleep without a bottle to see how it goes, I would wait until she is well.

Is she using the bottle to drink or to suck, at that age babies still use either a pacifier or fingers to suck on. I know some people don't like that but that is what babies do. You may not be able to get her to to sleep without giving her something she can use to sooth herself especially if she has been a sick child for so long. Personally I wouldn't take the bottle away at this point, but if that is what you want to do good luck to you.

I never put Devon down with a bottle/nursing. I had always heard that you shouldn't do that. I would feed him and keep him roused to burp etc. I kept the habit of reading and singing to him before bed. He'll be three in two weeks and he still loves that ritual although now he sings with me. I did use a pacifier though - but only for bedtime and naps. As soon as he fell asleep I would remove the pacifier. He gave that up at 18 months. Every child is different though!
