Hi A.,
Melaleuca has a NON TOXIC product-their Laundry prespot remover that will take it right up and not leave any harmful chemicals that could harm your children. Take a towel and a hot iron and lay the towel down and place the iron on top melting the was and the towel will soak it up. Keep fliping the towel around to a clean section and repeat until no more wax is pulled up.

Then try any of the cleaning methods that the other moms suggested to remove the remaining.

Future Crayon use...get the Crayola Color Wonder Sticks/Crayons...Will not mark on anything other than Color Wonder Paper. If you plan on using crayons I suggest strapping them into the booster seat and use them at the table to minimize future accidents.

There is a solution (or was) in the dog section at Wal-Mart. It was called Puppy Solution but it has been a few years since I looked for it. It takes out blood, urine, etc and I used it when my son decided to try teething on a washable crayon. Well, it does solve in water and salvia..he was green from his chiny chin chin to the floor (light tan carpet). I used the solution and it did pull out most of the color we then steam cleaned the rest out.

I am thinking but have not tried that maybe you could dry iron it out since the crayon is a wax. Not sure how you would do that but it is a thought...could be a bad thought..not sure.

If you use an iron to get the wax out make sure you mist the towel first or you can burn your carpet.

I own a carpet cleaning company and I would give the advice for the heat transfer method. using a damp white terry cloth towel over the crayola and with a little pressure use a med high iron and press over the affected area but do not leave the iron on it for too long, you can scorch the carpet. Sometimes the dye from the crayon is left behind. If it's red or orange crayon, it can be very hard to get out and there are some great pro strength chemicals to remove it but consumers can't buy it. You may need to call in a pro if it's too bad. Otherwise, just keep working the heat transfer and it should lighten up.
